Need some inspiration please! Its my last present left to get.

Want to get something lovely - budget £60. Not toiletries as she only uses clinique and got her set of that last year. Thanks.

Magazine subscription and some L'occitane hand cream

membershipcard · 02/12/2012 21:55

my mum has dementia too (Hello fellow-mother-sufferers)
I have got her a Queen Elizabeth II calendar - hopefully she will recognise some of the older pics., some chocs but not many cos she is a chocoholic who is piling on the weight and a bottle of Baileys (controlled by my dad)

QODRestYeMerryGentlemen · 02/12/2012 21:56

QODRestYeMerryGentlemen · 02/12/2012 21:57

Nagoo · 02/12/2012 21:59

tyson Xmas Grin get her some applecatcher pants off the market!

EugenesAxeChoppedDownANiceTree · 02/12/2012 22:00

Electronic scales (cooking ones, I mean). Probably no help whatsoever but you did ask - hope you find something nice.

I bought her one of these for her birthday and she likes it a lot (with White Musk scent).

LRDtheFeministDude · 02/12/2012 22:03

I'm getting mine a copper-bottom frying pan. Rather specific, so probably no help! But nice kitchen stuff, if she's keen, might work.

Or a couple of beautiful hardback books on nice thick paper - that sort of thing feels like a treat because you never buy them for yourself.

FeathersMcGraw · 02/12/2012 22:04

I got my mum a magazine subscription 2 years ago - she loved it so much that she asks for it to be renewed every year (result Grin). Then I get her something small to open on Christmas Day - this year it's a photo of our girls in lovely frame.

EndoplasmicReticulum · 02/12/2012 22:06

Nothing.

We decided a few years ago not to get presents for each other. Children will make her a card, and something to hang on her Christmas tree.

Yika · 02/12/2012 22:06

I'm ordering a canvas print of a photo of my DD in a forest that my DM has asked for. She will also get vv expensive Belgian chocs.

cantspel · 02/12/2012 22:07

A jumper dress. She is in a wheelchair and because she is immobile she really feels the cold. I will also get her something to keep her feet warm as she never wears shoes. I have no idea what yet but i will find something suitable.

Nyx · 02/12/2012 22:09

A new radio for her kitchen. I wanted to get her a DAB one but they don't work where she lives, so got a nice am/fm one to sit on the shelf.

Still pondering kindle covers!

Boden one £14.25 www.boden.co.uk/en-GB/Womens-Accessories/Other/AV058-PEW/Womens-Pewter-Kaleidoscope-E-Book-Case-(for-Kindle).html (reduced from £19) or joules one www.joules.com/Home-Garden/Phone-And-Tablet-Cases/Kindlecover/Colourful-Amazon-Kindle-Cover/Navy-Floral?size=One-Size for £24.95 (reduced from 34.95 using £10 off code). Joules one nicer but not sure if £10 nicer!

M

RightUpMyRue · 02/12/2012 22:13

I've bought my mum a "grandmas are good" bag from this shop The Good Bag Co and this yoyo.

For my step mum I've bought another good bag company bag but this one says "doctors are good" and I've bought her these racing grannies.

Both are, obviously, getting joke pressies rather than anything serious but they have everything they want or need so what's left to buy them except toys?

MIL has another Good Bag Co bag but she will need more than that as we're spending Xmas day with them. Dunno what though.

Doinmummy · 02/12/2012 22:15

Taffeta · 02/12/2012 22:16

I have bought her a Snowman from Build a Bear and got the DC to say "I love you Grandma" into it. I think she will take the piss out of me for years for this. Xmas Grin

I have also bought her some chocolate marzipan, a Greenpeace calendar and some Lush stuff.

notallytuts · 02/12/2012 22:16

nice handbag

Doinmummy · 02/12/2012 22:25

Stupid phone, would only let me type ' M'

My mum asked for hankies . Nice and easy I thought. Wrong! Couldn't find any in the shops. Ordered them off Internet in the end. Have also bought her a body warmer, which she has asked for, despite returning the one I bought her last year to the shop.

Thing3WasKissingSanta · 02/12/2012 22:25

I am getting my parents a joint £40 voucher for Tanners restaurant which should buy them a 3 course set meal each.

My mum is also getting some puzzle books. She doesn't drink, like chocolate, wear much perfume, use fancy bath stuff and so is very difficult to buy for!

ChristmasCountdown · 02/12/2012 22:25

Leith's baking bible and some cookery stuff. I wouldn't normally buy her 'household' stuff, but she recently put in a new kitchen (having never previously been in the position to have a nice lovely kitchen) and it's really inspired her to get back into cooking and baking. I bought her nice quality bakeware that she'd never fork out for herself.

NotADriveBy · 02/12/2012 22:29

cantspel, your cold foot conundrum reminded me of these hilarious JL foot duvets, which I came across this weekend!

thisthreadwilloutme · 02/12/2012 22:32

I have just ordered my parents tickets for the Lion King in Manchester. I think my Dad will be a bit Xmas Hmm but will enjoy it. I'm going to book and pay for a pre theatre dinner too.

CherryMonster · 02/12/2012 22:44

my mums is the gift i am most looking forward to giving this year. she has a hamper of lots of things, a sort of nostalgic one as there are many things she loved as a child. she always wanted a wicker shopping basket, they couldnt afford it when she was a child, and now they can be really expensive, but i found a lovely one, i had a friend make her a traditional style mohair teddy bear, something like she would have loved as a child, a jar of american hard gums (her fave when she was growing up) there will be jewellery made by me, and bits made by the kids, a layered brownie mix jar, a handmade candle and soaps, a lovely pic of the kids, a gorgeous bone china mug with sachets of hot chocolate and a set of walkers toffee which she loves.
