Christmas Tree Topper help needed...

Bit of background to what is really a very trivial thing but causing a lot of angst in our house!
When DH and I first got together we bought a set of cheapo tree decs for our flat with the intention of slowly replacing with a 'nice' decoration or two each year. This started, tree was beginning to look lovely, then DS came along. Tree is now a mish mash of original cheap stuff, nice new bits and glitter covered homemade monstrosities (which i love). It is all held together by a general red, white and silver nordic/shabby chic kind of look (except for the glitter!)

This year we intend to replace cheap nasty star with a good topper for the tree. I remember the joy of pulling out the same fairy each year of my childhood and want to find something that will last and give our children the same memories. I want a fairy/angel. Cue huge argument with DH who says they're creepy, he hates them and the tree will have a star...

So, where can I find a lovely tree topper to keep us both happy? Doesn't necessarily have to be a star, I'm sure I could persuade DH if I find a nice alternative/compromise. I think!

Sorry I can't suggest anything but am wanting to do the same thing. Went to a local garden centre there but with DM on mobility scooter, DD poorly and tired and the rest of the world pushing a shoving just couldn't find anything but the creepy Angels who I don't like...
But if you have a big local garden centre would be worth a look.

We are having a fairy vs star debate too! Angels are off the list because I loathe them. I'm currently considering a tree topper that is neither - there's an owl in b&q and I've seen some father Christmas ones around too.

We had a Father Christmas one for a while. Think we got it off eBay.
