Disappointed with my tree

We bought new lights for it this year - little multi-coloured LEDs and it just lloks weird. The tree isn't that big and the lights are so bright that you can't see anything else! Can anyone recommend the right kind of lights?

LED's just don't twinkle do they? Just get the old fashioned kind with bulbs from Tescos or somewhere. Put the LEDs somewhere else....

Managed to swap the LEDs for regular lights, but now they're not bright enough . I'm giving up.

We have value ones from b and m home stores and Tesco value.

I paid £18 at B&Q for ours. They're the right sort but just not bright enough. Dh will probably kill me if I buy another set though.
