Am a first time Elfer and was wondering how your Elf makes his grand entrance to your house?

Very excited about my childrens reactions...

This is our elf's second year, we are excited to see him again. He is arriving on 1st December. I am planning to do a little trail of Xmas baubles through to the living room where the elf will be waiting along with advent calendars, slipper socks, christmas book and DVD.

Huffpot · 25/11/2012 21:43

Our elf is bringing advent calendars too.

I like the idea of a trail of baubles...a trail sounds like fun :-D

Ooh buzz girl, I like that idea. This is our first year of him, I can't wait

Imsosorryalan · 25/11/2012 22:16

Explain please?Hmm

Huffpot · 26/11/2012 08:53

Imsosorryalan its an elf who lives with you through December and reports the childrens behaviour to Santa. He gets up to all sorts of mischief while the children are sleeping like doing green elf wee on the toilet, playing with (and messing up)toys and all sorts.

First year we're doing it too and I've got a little red suitcase and the elf is going to arrive in that in the fireplace with a little fake snow sprayed around as father Christmas comes down the chimney then I thought it would make sense. Still need to write the letter & address the suitcase etc. dh thinks I'm mad Grin

Thats a lovely idea lindsell...

I think I might buy a tub of chocolates for everyone a day or two before our elf arrives and leave a trail of chocolate wrappers leading to the elf at the fireplace and love the fake snow idea...

Hmmm! This is going to be fun!

Smile what a fantastic idea! Love it!!
Now to get an elf ....

Speedos · 26/11/2012 14:06

Lovely idea! Where do you get the elf from?

Huffpot · 26/11/2012 15:21

I got mine from the Ruby Range but other people buy them from their garden centre or use different kinds like Gund Peppermint Elves. There is also an official Elf on the shelf but I think he's a bit creepy

I finally went with the official elf after much deliberation and expecting him to arrive tomorrow or wed Grin

Dh and I have named him Norbert and on the 1st DH is going to knock on the door, leave Elf on the doorstep either with the letter underneath him depending on whether its windy, if not will post the letter and sneak back round to the back door. Have DS open door and find Norbie. I will carry him in and read the letter to DCs then he will take up his place on the fireplace Grin. Really giddy.

Huffpot · 26/11/2012 19:28

DP has suggested hanging ours in the fireplace high on a piece of string and wait till the DC are watching tv (near the fireplace) and cut it so he plops out and makes a grand entrance
Disclaimer the chimney is blocked so no elf would be harmed in this activity
