She's getting a bike and lots of bike related accessories for Xmas. But I wanted too get her something else, decent that she can open and play with immediately.
It's her birthday next wk and so far I've got her a giant plush Gruffalos child and a pony that walks round and neighs, I will get her other bitty things.
But what big present could I get her for Xmas?
Not sure I like the Innotab, screen seems small tho I haven't actually seen one working.
I could get a pink furby but then I'd need to get one for DS too so I'd still have to buy her another big present (DS got laptop, printer and boo it XT so far so doesn't really need anymore, tho wants a furby so I'm tempted). Would u?
What can I get DD?

DD1 is 4 and is getting the Lego stables set as she into ponies and the like. Nanny has also bought her a few of the smaller sets.

Games feature quite a bit this year too. Quite a few Orchard games and pop up pirate.

Books too. Especially the early reader ones.

I got DD games last year but I struggle to engage her for long and she refuses to play by the rules, just likes throwing dice about etc so I've given up on that one!
To be honest I struggle to engage her in much

What about a day out?

Panto or ballet tickets for just you and her? Or horse-riding afternoon?

My DD (4) got an innotab last Christmas and was a big hit. She also got kiddizoom camera.
This year she's big into playmobil so is getting the school (half price down to 59.99 in argos, she's just started school so will love this) and the swimming pool. She's also getting a double buggy fir her dolls and a "boy doll that wees" (baby born interactive). Not all from us btw!

Is she into playdoh? most of DD1's friends (all 4) are always happy with a new playdoh set and they are pretty cheap. Or if she likes drawing/painting an easel (ikea does a cheap one) or a magnadoodle type of thing.

Does she like building things, DD plays with her Duplo most days (and sticklebricks), they do lots of different Duplo sets now.

Dress-up stuff? Puzzles?

My own DD is getting Playmobil this year, the family campervan, Pool and Cafe (most people seem to rave about the motorhome and it is very self-contained so you don't necessarily need any other playmobil), as well as some board games and crafty stuff.

DD is into Playdoh, I however am not! It's banned from my house, unless some annoying person buys it for my DC and I can't hide it without them noticing!

cazza can DD work the Innotab without supervision or is it strictly a sit down together and do it?

I think I'm swayed towards the Innotab, but the Leappad book things didn't go down well and never get played so I don't know

A bit of guidance to start with, just to show her how it works and after that she easily worked it out for herself and doesn't need help, its fairly straightforward.

My 4yo loves:

Lego - "proper" and Duplo
Playdoh
Puzzles and simple board games - Orchard do loads of great ones
Tap-a-shape
Drawing/painting (you could get her an easel)
Wooden train set
Play kitchen & food
Buggy & dolls

Flojo1979 · 22/11/2012 21:56
