how much is a build a bear

Thinking of giving my son an IOU fur a build a bear at Christmas and taking him in the new year. Hire much can I expect to be gauged for?

The cheapest bear is £9. Then clothes depending on what they like. Their website is pretty good at telling you costs.

We did this last Christmas. We didn't get the real gift certificates but made our own and paid when they weren't looking on the day.

£20-50 in reality, bears are 10-20 but with all the extras like clothes and shoes I spent £30 easily

I would say with bear, outfit and shoes etc about £30. We did this last year and they LOVED it, they get to put a little heart inside and make a wish etc

We did it last year and paid £36. It was favourite toy for about a week but is now just another bear amongst all the other stuffed toys. Not worth it IMO

First time we went it cost us £80 for 2 but it can be done for a lot less, last time we went i let them have a bear each plus one item of clothing and it cost around £40 for the 2.

DDs both have one- I was tight and let them pick one accessory each. For subsequent birthdays/treats DD1 has built up outfits for hers (a nice puppy type thing). DD2 still sleeps with hers on her pillow (a lop eared rabbit that I think looks cheap and blah but she likes it).

keep an eye out as there's usually a money off voucher around xmas - usually hand them out in store or at promotions.

Mine recently went to a party there & they had £20 to spend which bought a fairly big bear/animal but no outfit. They loved it

A fifteen pound voucher will get them a bear (and perhaps an accessory). A 20 quid voucher will get them a bear and a generic frock. 25 quid will get them a bear and a nicer frock. 40 quid will let them go mad.

Sign them up for newsletters in advance and then you'll probably get a good discount voucher eg £4 off a £20 spend in time to use in January.

I have just rung the build a bear factory who have confirmed it will be £10 for 2 build a bear penguins on Friday, special offer. I am taking DCs for their first Christmas treat.

It can work out expensive if they really get into it.

My DD got her bear last year just before her 7th birthday and I dread to think how much we've spent on her over the last year or so. MIL, PIL and I all have our own bears now, and DD's bear and my bear have their own Christmas stockings (only with BAB clothes that I'd otherwise put in DD's stocking and a few sweets - I'm not quite that deranged).

We are expecting a baby bear this Christmas!

I will admit it sounds completely batty and I'm sure most people are far more sensible, but the bear is like a member of the family and we don't have pets so this is kind of a substitute.

Wish our bears were that well loved , ours dont get played with much, the dd's just like the whole build a bear expereance (making a wish and stuffing a bear), the bear is then chucked on their bed and their it stays gathering dust.

It's the only cuddly DD has been like that about. TBH it's been worth the amount we've spent on her to be able to get most of the other little furry buggers in the loft .

I bought one for my MIL 10 yrs ago when DS was 2 - we recorded him saying 'luff you Gwandma' when bears tummy was pressed. She cried when she got him and every morning when she made the bed she pressed his tummy. I got a text about 3 wks ago to say that the batteries had finally gone. So we are off soon to get her a new one with now 12 yr old DS saying 'Love you Grandma'...

funniest thing ever - in the shop 2 yr old DS was entranced by it all, absolutely fascinated, until the man put the tube up the bears bum to stuff it. DS started screaming in horror and DH had to leave shop with him.
God, still makes me laugh until I cry now.

ps they have just had a 25% off voucher - ran out yesterday but I've been to ill to get to shop. Hopefully there will be another one before xmas

Just do it without an outfit. Not sure why anyone would want an stupid outfit anyway.

Dd and friend did it for her birthday. Both kids have not put the bears down since but outfits IMO are excessive and unnecessary.

Do the outfits from Argos fit the Build A Bears?

My ds1 (5) chose an outfit etc but hasn't bothered with it since ds2 has just turned 2 today and had a spiderman outfit on his but to be honest doesn't bother with his either. Dd (4) on the other hand has over the ear amassed more clothes and assessories for her bear than I have for myself! It has rollar skates and pjs and ballet outfit and hello kitty coat and wellies and rain hat and a Cinderella fancy dress costume etch etc etc!

You'll leave the store £50 lighter, and minus your SOUL! It's HELL in there. HELL I tell you!
