NoSoggyBottoms - might be because loads of people apparently click to buy as soon as it's available without looking at the price, just in case it's a good deal, then when it's not they cancel so they've technically 'all gone' but there's loads still left in reality. But why Amazon can't then show the real stats might be technical problems or craftiness

I'm sure. But how could they be reasonably expected to display real time stats? They're only a teeny weeny little billion-dollar/pound business after all!
