Advent Calendar angst

I'm overseas and a bit skint, I wanted to get something fun for my nephew (aged 5) who already has every toy under the sun! I don't feel I can really compete with the type of things his parents and grandparents will get him so I'm considering getting him a playmobil advent calendar so he's got something in the run up to Christmas which he'll actually enjoy from us rather than it getting buried under everything else on the big day.

However, I'm concerned his mum might think this is a cop out, and expect an additional christmas gift too.

Am I worrying too much over this? Would you be upset if a relative only gave your child an advent calendar and no present for christmas day?

Not at all, explain that you wanted to give him something to enjoy in the run up. Unless your sister/IL is very grabby I can't possibly see that she would object.

Do check she hasn't already got him one, but other than that I think it is a lovely idea.

I think it's a really nice idea.

Means it will be a special gift, not lost with other gifts!

Just make sure he knows is early present. I'd be really pleased if someone thought of this for my DCs

I agree it is a good idea. My DD just got given a playmobil advent calendar as the main part of her birthday present from her aunt and uncle. She can't wait to start opening it.
