chocolate advent calendars

Although we have a wooden calendar with nativity figures in,, chocolate ones have crept in too so they have something to open each day. Wondered if we could list which shops have which calendars to find that perfect bit of tacky merchandising one for our dc. I'll kick it off -

One Stop (part of Tescos) 1 pound each
One Direction
Moshi Monsters
Peppa Pig
Spiderman
Thomas the Tank engine
Simpsons

Looking for Hello Kitty one

The Lindt one is the best one for chocolate. I've seen them in Waterstones and Sainsbury's. Really delicious chocolate, and failry cheap.

Lidl have them for 90p... non tacky and yummy chocolate. Will do for my 3 DCs...

Hate tat advent calendars with a passion. Wtf does Peppa the bloody pig have to do with advent?

3bunnies · 06/11/2012 23:29

Whilst I appreciate your concern about the 'tat', three days is a long time for a three year old to wait to open the next door on the expensive advent calendar especially if one of your big sisters has sneaked in and swopped it around so they get all the 'cool' nativity figures the chocolate ones are a fun distraction so they all have something to open as well as the big one and I prefer them to spending 60 quid on enough lego ones for three children to have one each. They still fiercely guard their 'turn' on the main calendar.

So, ds has decided he wants Peppa pig, we are still looking for Hello Kitty and Mario if anyone spots them. They aren't particularly discerning about taste, dd2 doesn't even like chocolate but enjoys choosing her tat and finding the number then giving the chocolate to ds!

Wilkinsons have hello kitty ones for £1

Me, DD1 and DH £1 each from wilkinsons

DD2 milk allergy so she has a Moo Free chocolate calendar £6.99 specialist shop

think poundland have mario ones. I have bought the Lidl ones this year, so cheap without character-branding.

CandiceMariePratt · 06/11/2012 23:36

Can you get them with white chocolate?

noisytoys · 06/11/2012 23:48

You can get milkybar advent calendars they are white chocolate

Great am going to Poundland and Wilkinsons next week. I don't mind the branding too much as my dc are so unmaterialistic, still don't have anything more from dd1 than that she wants immortality and a mini aeroplane to fly her to school, neither of which she is getting from us at least. They don't seem to translate brands into things, mainly because none of them watch adverts and the girls hate shopping so don't see any products, they have no clue what is out there! Their only point of reference is what their friends like (dd1 - hello kitty, dd2 - mario)! Not sure where Peppa pig fits in, though to be fair ds would prefer a Get Well Soon or art attack one, we've broken it to him gently that his favourites are just not commercial enough!
