Basic smartphone for first time user?

My mother's old Nokia has started to play up.
I was thinking of getting her a new one fore christmas. Probably a smartphone. She would use camera, phone and would like to be able to put apps on. I need to find something user friendly but cheaper than an iPhone (around £100). She will struggle with anything too complicated and wouldn't use most of the features anyway.

Any suggestions?

A Samsung Galaxy Y. Ive just got one, and i have to say it is very good. I picked mine up from Argos www.argos.co.uk/static/Product/partNumber/5187557.htm
You can put apps on it, like games etc, but is very easy to use.
My 4 year old DD can suss it out pretty good!
