When do your decorations go up?

Thought it would be fun to find out when everyone else puts theres up!

Mum tells my dad to ascend the loft and get everything out on the 17th Novemeber (Yes that early)

Me and my mum love christmas so much, we put everything up to make it feel 'warm' and 'cosy' after 3-4 hours we sit down make a hot chocolate then get excited for christmas

1st December for us, before ds was on the scene we waited until 2nd week of December. Like you I love Christmas time!

1st weekend in December.

1st weekend in December, the word Christmas is virtually banned in our house when dh is around until december that is why I am on here so much! Then he is like a big kid and will want to get the biggest tree he can squeeze into our little house, and will love all the decorating, he always wants to be there when advent calendar is open, even if it means waiting until the end. It then culminates in his Christmas shopping on Christmas Eve, unfortunately he is working on Christmas Eve this year, so it will have to be the weekend just before. As my shopping is nearly done (thanks to the baargainous thread), the children and I will be secretly doing Christmas stuff from now on!

I should say that I actually prefer the tree coming a bit later so it doesn't drop needles so much, but I am usually outvoted!

We do the weekend roughly two weeks before. Not sure about this year with induction looking to be then. Probably best to get all the decs up before!

I try and wait untill the 1st Sunday in December, sometimes I just can't wait putting up the decorations is the best part of Christmas for me

We make a real weekend of it, I take the kids out ice skating or something quite Christmassy on the Saturday, then on the Sunday, after a big roast we put the tree up (I do the rest of the house in the morning) listening to Christmas music and I have a mulled then we put the lights on a snuggle down to watch a Christmas film together

My late DG used to put hers up on the 31st Oct! And go mad and tacky, we loved it as kids my DM wouldn't let us put ours up untill a few days before

Usually the second weekend in December.

No earlier than the weekend before. Ideally I'd leave it until the 24th but there is always so much else to do! Dd's birthday is the 23rd though so we don't fully decorate until that evening so the tree will be up, we'll have paper chains and fairy lights around, holly and other greens will be up from Yule but we'll try to leave Christmas specific stuff, presents under the tree etc until after her birthday.

And yes presents under the tree with all the labels showing who they are from because Father Christmas only brings stockings. So there.

1st December and by then i am busting and can't wait but dh is a bit of a bah humbug so i have to wait.

About a week into December, this year will be 8/9 Dec. We have a real tree and want it to last. We all go out to the local Forestry commission place and choose the tree together and decorate it once it gets dark.

1st December is when I upload Christmas music onto all our Ipods, that and Advent calendars for the first week in Dec is a nce gradual buildup.

1st weekend in December here to. Side note my dcs don't break up till the 21st this year so not a lot of time for iceskating, getting a real tree, shopping ect I'm really about it.

This year I'm starting the whole Santa only stocking thing, always had both from Santa but this will be my second Xmas without ex p, and last year Santa spoilt them then wonderful Daddy spoilt them a few days after - looked like I didn't get them anything

Sometime between the 10 - 15 December for us. I love putting and having them up but think they'd drive me mad if I had them up for any longer!

brandy I love that the children don't break up until late! Less time at home with hyper children and more time to sort stuff away from prying eyes . I am almost all done with shopping though .

I prefer it when the DCs break up early. I work so they get to go off to grandparents or do sports clubs etc on my work days, do Chrisas stuff the other days but without the pressure of the term time routine. Come Jan 2nd we feel all deflated and we're all ready to get back into term time mode but they don't go back till the 7th.

First weekend of December here too.

Mine will be going up on Dec 15th this year, as my little niece is coming to stay for the weekend, and letting her decorate the tree will save me from having to do it be fun for her

Indith You have a point, I just find it difficult with fitting everything and family in .And I love the run up to christmas. Like whoiknow said 2nd of Jan I want them back in school. I hate January and I hate my xmas decs up after boxing day, I itch till all day boxing day wanting to take them down.

This year we will be putting the tree up on the 15th we have a real tree and I find if we get them any earlier then they are past there best by the 25th.

When the schools break up, so 20th (ish) of December.

The Saturday after the children have broken up.

The weekend before Christmas, usually, but this year it will be earlier as we are away the weekend before Christmas (early Christmas with DH's family).

Also if I have neighbours over for some wanky mulled wine and mince pie thing, then I'll be festived up in time for that.
