Martin Lewis was talking about this today on Daybreak. Stop buying a coffee, or crisps or whatever else might be a daily treat and put it in the pot.

Or collect all your silver coins each day.

Get one of those money boxes from poundland that you have to open with a tin opener so your less likely to dip into it.

I've sold some stuff on eBay and left the money in PayPal. I've also put about $30 a month away.

For the past couple of years I've saved my £2 coins in a jar- (I buy the tins from The Range that can be opened with a tin-opener).
Last year I had £200
Year before I started in August and had £82 or somewhere in that area.

This years tin is feeling nice and heavy Grin. I aim to put in £4 a week, some weeks more.

Our family rule is- DH puts the money in his bank, we each buy a present online (this is from the DC). Then we split the remaining money between the 2 DC. They each buy a decoration, a present for each other. Then they keep the remainder for themselves but it has to be spent on our shopping trip .So they can buy lots of little bits or one main thing.
