Is anyone going to get a furby?

I've just looked at them as they are tipped to be the hot toy of 2012. They do look pretty cool. The dancing is especially cute. But £59.99 for what is essentially a cuddly toy seems a bit steep.
Do think ds would love one but do wonder how long the novelty would last for.

Anyone thinking of getting one?

Reviews are not Good

CoffeeGoneColdAgain · 14/09/2012 16:17

Where have you seen reviews gregssausageroll? Didn't think they were released until 24th ish of this month. That sounds like I'm being rude, I don't mean it to sound that way :o

NorbertDentressangle · 14/09/2012 16:23

Oh no, are they back?!

I remember them being around about 12-15 years ago as a work colleague used to bring her daughters one into work so that we could look after it and do whatever it was you had to do to avoid it dying.

After the initial 10mins of "aaaah, isn't it cute....so sweet. Bless....listen to it" it drove us bonkers!

gregssausageroll · 14/09/2012 18:26

Not at all. I just googled furby and it came up about half way down the page from memory.

Will never forget my aged, religious zealot grandma looking earnestly over her specs at mine when I was a kid, and looking most alarmed when it started gibbering away and moving. She proclaimed it "devilish" and wouldn't have anything to do with it. :)

Right, can we sort this for once and for all :o

I've reserved one at Argos. Will DD1 actually want the bloody thing or am I bowing to possible Christmas pressure?

MonsterBookOfTysons · 28/09/2012 13:52

Toys r us had loads in, the boxes were nice :o
Sh has said a firm no to getting them for our 2 dc, I may surprise him :o

MonsterBookOfTysons · 28/09/2012 13:53

TaperJeanGirl · 28/09/2012 15:13

I bought 3 of them yesterday from argos on their 3 for 2 deal, and as I spent over £100 got a £10 voucher too!

HoldMeCloserTonyDanza · 28/09/2012 15:26

Is it 1999?

TequilaMockinBird · 28/09/2012 15:31

Nooooo, Furbys are back?

DD had one about 10 years or so ago, I vividly remember the night it sat on my windowsill and the blinds were open. A car was doing a 3-point turn in the street and as the headlights shone onto Furby, it started screaming. I woke up with such a bloody fright and couldn't shut it up, it was scared apparently. Not long after that its batteries were taken out died and it was thankfully forgotten about.

DD is too old for Furbys now, thank goodness!
