Christmas scrapbook

I won a competition on Facebook for a large antique leather sketchbook from Scaramanga.
It arrived today and is a gorgeous dark red leather, very Christmassy and just begging to be turned into a Christmas scrapbook/memory book.

I've never really done anything crafty like this, can anyone give me any advice, ideas, links?

I'm so excited, I have visions of it becoming a family heirloom. :)

You could make it like a family tree, and get a photo/memory/recipe from each family member :)

That would be a great idea milk, but both DH's and my family are decidedly meh about Christmas. (which probably explains why I am borderline obsessed with creating wonderful Christmases/memories for my two)
So won't get much input from the relatives.

This will be DD's 4th and DS's 2nd Christmas, so I will backtrack to Christmas 2009 and add photos of their previous Christmases, I am thinking of a sort of foreward from me at the start, saying what Christmas means to me and will hopefully mean to them and their children (forward planning or what?)

Lovely idea.
You could add to some of the pages with some nice traditional Father Christmas pictures (card making supplies will have them now. These card makers like to start early)

I used to write a Menu out in a green ink using a calligraphy pen.
I'd put something like that in too .......

Yes, a menu and recipes, good idea 70.

Can anyone recommend a glue for sticking pictures into the book?
Looks like I have finally found a use for all those special Christmas cards that I can't bear to throw out, I will cut out little pictures from them and use to decorate the pages of the scrapbook.

We have a christmas book that we each write memories from the year and hopes for the next and it gets packed away with the Christmas decorations. The children draw a picture if unable to write. It is becoming a lovely keepsake and we have it out over Christmas on the coffee table.

Some great ideas here, may have to steal!

Hi TerraNotSoFirma. Recommend acid free glue, glue dots, or double sided sticky tape avail from hobby shops/craft shops. If you use standard pritt stick or glue, it will yellow over the years. Enjoy the project, it sounds a lovely idea Smile

Glue dots sound like the least messy option :)

Photo corners can be really useful for sticking things in scrapbooks too, especially if they are cards etc that you might want to take out and read the inside of at some point (and they leave the item completely intact)
