Table centrepiece or decoration ideas please

What do you use? I'd like something simple but pretty and a bit festive.

There's probably loads of ideas on the homemade or poncetastic threads, but I haven't got time to wade through it all!

I don't have a very big table do ours will consist of table rubber, wine glasses, plates & cutlery, and some Christmassy candles at each end with some Christmassy flowers in the middle. Hth!

I have pewter candlesticks, so can use those. Maybe red candles and just some holly around. Am watching Kirsty's Homemade thing now but she's faffing on in such a dull way about truffles and candle making that I'm not sure I can bear to wait until the table decorating bit!

Very classy idea, a square vase, fill with any old baubles - and get a battery operated few fairy lights twisted in...well maybe too late for this year..but do it next year, very easy, cheap and tasteful

I have a glittery twiggy beaded garland, into which I have woven a string of battery powered leds. It will sit on top of the table runner along the table. We serve up in the kitchen so no need to make room for serving dishes on the dining table.

I know how to do professional table decs but last year was so difficult weather wise (had to walk to town, trolley full to bursting with last minute shopping, flowers wouldn't have survived the walk home without damage) and the garland looked so pretty I will do it again. I know it sounds lazy, but I've done everything else and will do all the cooking.

cheap and easy ideas:

-a glass bowl of pretty flowers and some tea lights in nice holders
-spray pears gold and place around a candle with holly
-I've pinched an idea from GH magazine and have put on a cakestand gold and red baubles, organges studded with cloves/tied up with red ribbon, nuts and gold choc coils - thats not for on the table for xmas day I just have it on the table to look festive when we are not eating.
