Yes they make the house smell-lovely if you like the actual smell of cloves. Personally it reminds me of when I had raging toothache.

Yes they do! And they last for ages. I've still got a couple from last year - I put them on the radiators and you get a lovely clovey christmassy smell whenever the heating comes on.

I love Christmassy smells. Usually via a plug-in or 'puffer' of some description, but I thought I might try the 'natural' way !

So, what do you actually do? Just stick cloves in orange skin?

That's exactly what you do Golden! I'm not a very artsy/craftsy type person but this is the ONE thing I can do and it always works and I love it!

Interesting. I'll have to go get some oranges and give this a shot. hell of a lot cheaper than smelly candles

I have a plug-in thing that's been going for years, but I am sure you get 'immune' to it in the end...

I did have a rather delicious spray thingy from M&S one year, but I used it all, and have never been able to find it again.

I think I am going to stud some oranges and get some cinammon sticks too.

Don't know if it makes the difference but I always keep mine on the radiators - turn every so often so they dry out evenly...after that there's nothing to go mouldy...it's more like Christmassy pot pouri iyswim
