Starter ideas for Christmas Day Dinner??

Any starter suggestions for Christmas day dinner?? Preferably something light and not too rich. Thank you!

We're having red pepper soup with melba toast

Lostlady: Not sure how to do links but Google Barefoot Contessa Bay Scallop Gratin. Barefoot uses Pernod but i change to wine or not at all. :)

We don't tend to bother with a starter but now I've read this I'm quite tempted by pate. Does anybody know of a nice vegetarian pate?

Christmas day is prawn cocktail but I have 19 on boxing day and no starter. Mainly because we have a huge roast dinner, friends all bring puddings and cheese board plus there is chocolate and mince pies after.

What a great selection of suggestions - I am veering towards something with prawns/salmon/salad I think now..and champagne of course! Thank you !!
