The Lambrini Debate

My father in (common) law's girlfriend is partial to lambrini. I think it's foul BUT she likes it and if you can't get people things they like at xmas you're missing the point imo. We are on a tight budget this year so we are only buying small and fun gifts for people, and a bottle of the stuff would be fun in a hamper, however my partner is refusing because he is a snob and a control freak. Does anyone know of any other posher perry alternatives?

You know what, if she likes it then buy it for her. Other alternatives would be a cheap prosecco but some of those can be quite rough.

Surely if this is a gift your DP won't have to drink it? It is relatively cheap so won't bust the budget, and you know she will like it. I think DP is being a bit silly here, and trying to make a point to his father about his girlfriends' unsophisticated tastes. (I wouldn't drink it from choice either, but people are entitled to their own preferences.)

It is for her not your Dh so how would he like it if he drank a particular drink and someone else didn't buy it as they didn't like it?

I have bought a Celine Dion CD in the past for someone, not my taste but they were thrilled

We served my Granny a lovely German Sylvaner one time, a crisp dry wine. Granny: euuuuuwwww, it is like vinegar.
