My dad, who I rarely see, has announced he's visiting this week. Normally we don't see him till several weeks after Christmas so I don't feel I need to give a present. This time I do. He'll bring something for DD and usually gives me a voucher.

What on earth can I get him? Last year it was a photo frame with dd pics in. He doesn't drink, is supposed to be dieting, doesn't read, has just taken up golf but no idea what he's into otherwise.

I have half a morning on Tuesday before he comes - only available shopping time. thanks

how much do you want to spend?

what about a scarf?

belindarose · 17/12/2011 13:36

Forgot to say - about a tenner. Yes a scarf might be good. I could get one from the garden centre I pass by. Or gloves for dog walking?

Voucher for a golf lesson

Lovely warm gloves that golfers wear this time of year.

Waterproof

Can you tell (from my name) that I'm a golfer?

lucysmam · 17/12/2011 13:38

Gloves would be nice, I think, it's freezing out there & I'd appreciate them even though I don't have a dog to walk!

belindarose · 17/12/2011 13:39

Thanks all. I'll seek out some gloves. I always lose mine so appreciate them as gifts.

Something to wear? Tie? Cashmere socks, nice handkies...

I do think grandparents enjoy photos, so an update of those in new frames. I've also seen a tray, and you can slip the photos into the base. I know you can get them online:

Hope that helps..

Good Luck!

IDismyname · 17/12/2011 14:13

Oops... Took a break to have lunch, then came back to post this. Just discovered that your budget is a tenner... blows out the tray, then.

Photo on a mug (Boots)?

belindarose · 17/12/2011 14:19

Don't think he's so keen on photos, but I might print him out some recent ones to go in last year's frame.

all purpose golf tool £9.

Calvin Klein golf tube gift set £10.

golfer's accessory kit also £10.

Have just bought DP some 'heat holder' socks £6, they sell them in matalan, sports direct and my local (Dobbies) garden centre, so I imagine they are readily available. DP works outside and they went down well Xmas Smile
