Anyone else having Christmas a deux?

Just wondering, like :)

DH will finish work at 6am Christmas morning, and we have no car to get to family, and we don't have children (unless you count the kitten, which tragically we do), so it'll be just we 2 Christmas Day.

Am really looking forward to it - everything on our terms! - but also get a bit Sad because all the Christmas threads are about large families having John-Lewis style boisterous fun!

Anyone else having a cosy time, just the two of you? If so, what will you be getting up to?

we are as we know it will hopefully be our last. Well, alone except a few hours. PiL are coming for breakfast before church (payment for the lift there lol) then just us two.

What we are getting up to, urm.... a nice long walk back from church, lots of food, snuggling on sofa, wine. A few skype calls to my family (far away) more food, doctor who and downton, more wine... Xmas Wink

Yes.

Have done this for the last couple of years.

It is great.

I don't really like "other people" that much.

Mrs that sounds almost zackly what we have planned Grin

Planning on giving DH a stocking (nope, not grown out of those yet...) when he comes in from work, maybe with some smoked salmon. Then church, and presents, and late lunch, and a walk along the canal...

Slightly worried we'll be sick of each other/rich food/ chocs by 7pm but that's nothing the Dr Who/Downton Xmas Speshuls can't cure...

Why are you hoping it'll be your last? Thought for a minute you had a desperately tragic story about a long-term illness or something!

Trills me neither.

I have a massive family. I enjoy being just we two. Not having to justify or explain any of what we're up to. And no screaming other-people's-brats either Grin

We'll have to see family in the days after xmas but I was secretly relieved we had a copper-bottomed excuse for being alone on The Big Day...

Last christmas a deux. Next year christmas a trois (unless the twins gene kicks in Xmas Wink )

MamaPizzaChristmasToppings · 16/12/2011 10:43

We don't see any family between Christmas day and New Year's day. It has always been this way and I love it. We are three now, but before DS it was just the two of us. Calm, cosy and just lovely Xmas Smile

Aw, congrats Mrs :)

I've been saying 'last Christmas a deux' for the last 3 years: maybe this year it'll really be the case!

Mama I'm well jel. I'd love to sort of batten down the hatches and indulge just the two of us for an entire week. I fear, however, that we would never escape the fury of the ILs Grin

Scarlett, I got my BFP Christmas Eve three years ago after four unsuccessful years so you never know when it's your turn Xmas Grin Enjoy it while you are two, but I can't deny it is even more fun when you have a little one with you.

I really can't wait for our together week. Loads of junk food, Christmas films, walks with the dog, board games... Roll on, roll on!

TheScarlettPimpernel · 16/12/2011 10:57

Thanks Mama :) - and what a lovely tale, thanks for perking me up a touch!

DH has cunningly worked out that Christmas and New Year boffing will be, shall we say, advantageously timed Xmas Wink so being alone will be even more useful!

Oh oh oh oh board games I totally forgot board games

Oooh, happy erm... baby making Xmas Wink

We always have the full meal and the dog gets leftovers. Sod it, it's only once a year that you can indulge without feeling guilty. And big jumpers in January and February will hide the flabby belly Xmas Grin
