the last few books he's read have been Operation Mincemeat (WW2 non fiction), I'm Feeling Lucky (confessions of Google employee number 59) The Snowball by Warren Buffett and Open - Andre Agassi's autobiography. He likes books about WW2, The City and sport basically! Grin

A twist on the sport theme is Touching the Void - you could get him the DVD too Grin

Or what about Into the Wild?

There's this website which specialises in WW2 books, or has he read The Sportswriter?

This is supposed to be excellent but given the subject matter obviously a bit harrowing. Have just bought it for dh.

Agent Zigzag by Ben Mcintyre.

Fool's Gold by Gillian Tett is very good.

Making History by Stephen Fry is really enjoyable - and has a WW2 theme!

Well I have got dh, who also like WW2 stuff and sport, a book about the Ordnance Survey map company, a book written by a guy who walked the London Underground overground, and a book recommended on here but I can't remember the title about a family travelling around Britain in a Vauxhall Astra or something Xmas Smile

Try The Hare with the Amber Eyes - it is about a collection of Netsuke how they came to be collected by a Jewish family and how they were returned to them after the War... it is amazing.

Also Just My Type... it is the story of fonts, nowhere near as dusty as it sounds, it had me laughing out loud when they talk about the comic sans wars!

Into the wild & Touching the Void both v v good, as are the film adaptations.
