Moved it to clean the carpet on Friday afternoon & since putting it back it looks nice from one side & a mess the rest of the way round. & you can see all the way round it

Gutted! It's huge & gonna take forever to re-do in the morning

my tree has been up for about 9 hours and so far its had the lights pulled off it and been completely pulled over.

i'm trying to chill. Xmas Smile

The bottom baubles come off every day & get put back every evening after dd2 goes to bed, she plays "kick it ball" (her version of football) with them through the day Grin

Maybe I'll blame the kids

I don't get the nice tree thing. My kids decorated it, yes it looks horrifying and I know I have to live with it for some weeks to come. But one of my in laws who shall remain nameless has got her perfect tree up, all co ordinated with decor, etc etc, and the kids aren't allowed to touch it or she freaks. Kudos to the crap tree brigade I say

PomBearAtTheGatesOfDoom · 11/12/2011 23:30

Our tree looks like an explosion in the tinsel factory but what the heck - it's Christmas Xmas Grin

minceorotherwise · 11/12/2011 23:37

Exactly, wouldn't be christmas without the crap lovely tree

Sleepingonthebus · 11/12/2011 23:39

Mine looks horrendous, but because the DC did it, I love it.

lucysmam · 12/12/2011 10:52

It looks better this morning, I spaced some of the balls out a bit. DD2's been at it playing footy already so am giving up & going with the dodgy tree, am sure we'll get chance at a nice one when they grow up a bit Hmm

Mines a mess too, dd2 keeps taking things off and puting them back on, all the decorations seem to be in the middle of the tree (dd2's height), i have given up re-decorating it.

GladbagsAndYourHandrags · 12/12/2011 11:04

You need a visit from the Christmas Tree Fairy! The DC help decorate our tree, then leave a gin & tonic out for the fairy who comes and tweaks it a bit while they're asleep. That way everyones happy Wine

We do have a golden rule of 'don't touch the tree once its up' as we have various glass ornaments - when DC were smaller we put the tree in the playpen to prevent accidents.

thestringcheesemassacre · 12/12/2011 11:09

We visited friends yesterday who had a perfect tree. All white ornaments, no tinsel, just perfect. We came home and the kids hung all their crappy homemade ornaments, tacky rubbish etc. Both nice I think, just different.

DamnDeDoubtance · 12/12/2011 20:08

you get 2 trees, one for the kids and one for yourself. Simples.

lucysmam · 12/12/2011 20:19

Ours is just a mish-mash of random stuff. I saw some nice sparkly reindeer, sleighs, snowflakes and stars I wanted for it a while ago. Sent dp to buy them..... I think he just heard the silver sparkly bit though, came home with acres of tinsel from the quid shop & ceiling decs....all silver sparkly Hmm

I'll get a tree for the kids in the sales for next year & try for a more grown up big tree. I look through all the mags at this time of year & sort of wish mine looked half as nice & stylish, but then again it'd be boring if it did & if dd2 wasn't constantly playing with the baubles.....7 in the toybox tonight!

I don't really get the need for trees to be 'stylish' and coordinated with the decor! People seem to get really stressed about their trees nowadays. It is of course personal choice but I'd far rather see a tree hung with wonky baubles made by children/grandchildren than these minimalist ones. The first (seems to me) to be just warmer and more expressive of family life.

ChickensThinkYouCanGetStuffed · 12/12/2011 21:32

Our tree regularly has a puppy in it. He has so far eaten two strands of tinsel and three baubles. There are lights skimming the floor and my star is listing to the left. My tree looks like a tree that's been at the work Christmas party and is pretending to be sober but is in fact utterly wankered.
