Honestly why the fuck does it always happen!!

Really just need to vent so feel free to ignore Blush

Car broken so relying on pushbike to get to and from homecare people, my dad's reconstructive surgery after a voicebox removal has failed and he now may face being tube fed for the rest of his life Sad, and to top it all off Dh has just been laid off!!! 2 fucking weeks before Xmas with 5 bloody kids and no presents bought yet.

WHY NOW FOR FUCKS SAKE WHY NOW!!!!

His boss is a wanker who gave the reason to him and 2 others as sorry can't afford to keep you on, you can go today if you want and I will try to pay you this months wages Sad

A month ago fair enough, in a months time fair enough but 2 bloody weeks before Xmas.
Stupidly waiting for Dh's december wages for main Xmas prezzies Blush

Ok vented and feel ever so slightly better!

Sending you (((hugs))), I know it won't help your situation but really felt for you when I read your post and didn't want you to think nobody cares. Hope things pick up for you really quickly.

KinkyDoritoWithFairyLightsOn · 10/12/2011 16:42

That's really, really shit.

I'm sending you unMN hugs, because it really sounds like you could do with them.

fuckityfuckfuckfuck · 10/12/2011 16:45

Ah Magnolia :( My friend has a dh who this happened to a few years ago, it was utterly awful for them. WHat are the ages of your dc? I have more than enough spare bits that I bought far too early for my 7yo dd and put away and forgot, I'd be mroe than happy to post some to you :)

Merrin · 10/12/2011 16:47

:(

molepomandmistletoe · 10/12/2011 16:47

Thats shit.

Hope things do get better for you somehow.

I remember exp always getting laid off just before christmas then rehired a few weeks later..all because they didnt want to pay hoilday pay the bastards. So I can relate to that aspect of your feelings.

I wish I could do or saything that will help you and your dad but I cant think of anything. Hopwfully someone will be along soon with something useful.

StealthPolarBear · 10/12/2011 16:58

oh magnolia :(

magnolia74 · 10/12/2011 17:00

Fuckity (Giggling while typing that Blush) Thanks you but its ok honestly, will figure something out.

I have sat here talking to the older kids and they understand, the younger ones will be ok with whatever they get Smile

I am worried about my mum though, she is insisting she wont have Xmas dinner as dad can't eat or drink Sad

As for the car, might push it off a bloody cliff Wink

magnolia that is shite anytime but at Christmas, you could do without it. Sad

I also have some (new) toys that you are very welcome to.

Chin up xxxx

Rosa · 10/12/2011 17:06

How terrible- If we can help on here I am sure people will..... I have some spare things ..... Sorry for your mum and dad as well.

KnickersOnOnesHead · 10/12/2011 17:09

So sorry Magnolia, it never rains...... :(

magnolia74 · 10/12/2011 17:11

Guys thank you, honestly its ok, just needed to vent (don't want to come across as needy Blush)

It just frustrates me how a boss chooses now to do it, he knows we have 5 kids and dh worked bloody hard for him. He went in today and got it in writing so we can prove to job centre he didn't leave voluntarily. Dh insisting he will find another job asap so why claim jsa but have persuaded him to do it just in case it takes a while to find something . Pride is ok but right now he has to put it aside Hmm

I had same problem last yr mother very ill.

DPs company kept promising to pay but didnt we got in debt and lived on the edge for two months. They finally paid end of February. Three months with no money was not fun. Hopefully other family members have bought children pressies?

Have you bought anything yet at all ? can you sell anything on ebay ? Tell the bank, we had a hoilday on loan payments and rang cards and paid a token 10.00.

Maybe ring Citzens Advice they might have information emergency funds. also some councils have hardship funds.

Sorry for your problems sending get well wishes to your dad.

magnolia74 · 10/12/2011 17:21

Relatives are buying presents yes.
Have bought stocking fillers so its not all bad Smile

Dh refuses to go to bank for overdraft etc... which i understand as it just adds to money problems if he doesn't get another job soon.

I just want to scream but can't as kids don't deserve a miserable mummy and dh feels bad enough as it is Blush

What did your dh do for a living, you never know it might be possible to network on here....

Very sorry this has all happened to you. Christmas is also a time of hope, so I hope everything comes together. Kids can be very understanding, and although we all get caught up on the present hype sometimes it's all about just spending time together.

Definitely get down to CAB about the missing salary, I bet his boss won't do without money this year.

Best wishes to your dad for a speedy recovery, sometimes the hospital gives worse case scenarios to prepare you for unforeseen issues.

((hugs))

magnolia74 · 10/12/2011 18:45

He's a cycle mechanic (pushbikes) and was working in a cycle shop.

Yep his boss wont go without money :-(

Sorry to hear this Magnolia. Unmumsnetty hugs from me too. I know how it feels when things always seem to go wrong in December having coped with similar issues in the past. I only wish i could do more to help. Just didnt want to read and run.

magnolia74 · 10/12/2011 22:40

Thanks,

Dads still in intensive care after another op (last one they will do) so fingers and toes crossed it works.

Have managed to sell some clothes on facebook selling page and hubby is going to advertise to do mobile cycle repairs too.

My mates husband began to buy cheap bikes on ebay and rebuild them and sell them on. He now makes more money than his landscape gardening business used to pull in. He started doing it as a favour to mates.if he advetises his skills you never know what opportunities are out there.

Shame he couldn't have freelanced forhis manager, seems short sighted to let a skilled workman go completely.

Perhaps he could shar ehimself around a few shops, like a self employed technician..?

But you should make sure you are claiming all the benefits he has worked to earn. It'snot charity, he's paid NI and tax for exactly these situations. Are you working op?

magnolia74 · 10/12/2011 23:11

only a few hours a week doing homecare and also part time at college
