Surprise for my mum.

It's not really a Christmas topic but I have to share this or I'm going to explode. My mum thinks we can't come home for Christmas as my baby sons passport hasn't come through and flights are too expensive ( we live in the us). But we have just managed to get his passport rushed through and found the money for the flights. Im going to surprise her at her birthday dinner next Thursday. He is her only grandchild and she hasn't seen him since he was a newborn five months ago. I'm just so excited, but can't tell anyone as she is a friend on Facebook and I don't want to risk her finding out. We've arranged to stay with a cousin for the first few days as my mum won't be expecting us, but she is going to be sooo happy.

So happy for you - your mum will love it. Have a brill Christmas and remember to feed or give the baby something to suck on for take off and landing Grin

I'm hoping he'll be able to feed for takeoff, not sure how feasible that will be with the seatbelts. Its just sinking in how much I have to organize. Argh!

Totally doable with seatbelts,. Some airlines have a "babies must face forwards policy" so I wait until we're taxiing down the runway. Have a lovely holiday.

We're seeing her the day after we get there just staying with my cousin so she doesn't stress about not having a room ready for us. That way we can move to hers as soon as she is ready but she doesn't need to worry about it the first few nights. She likes surprises but I think she'll appreciate having as long as she needs to prepare. We're going to be in England for three weeks, also seeing my in laws and other relatives.

How wonderful Xmas Smile

Oh that has brought a very fat sentimental tear to my eye :)

What a wonderful surprise for your mum. And so incredibly thoughtful to have arranged alternative accommodation rather than just turning up and being indignant if she starts to stress about sleeping arrangements etc (am envisioning the alternative AIBU thread: AIBU to be annoyed with mum being ungrateful despite us travelling thousands of miles etc!!!)

Have a wonderful time OP and do come back and share how it all goes on the day!
