Dp and I have decided to buy 2 gifts each. Was supposed to be 1 but I got greedy Wink

He told me not to look to closely at anything that got delivered. Liz Earle package turns up,think she should be more discreet Hmm He was shifty about me going in the car boot. I forgot not to look and went searching for something so found the easel he's got me (I paint). It seemed to be more than just an easel but I didn't pry. Blush

Anyway he doesn't know I've got him a watch and a Pink Floyd dvd so he's getting nice surprises and I'll get him something to eat/drink.

Tbh I'm not at all bothered as long as dcs and dp like what they get which they always do. And I know I'll like the gifts dp has got me, he's been very thoughful Smile Mum and my friends get me gifts too. I keep trying to get friends to do a bran tub but they always say they've already got mine. 2 friends are getting calendars I'm making (painting) plus a small gift as they are impossible to buy for.

We're buying each other a child free spa day. We might even go together Smile

BrigitBigKnickers · 08/12/2011 10:12

Nothing unless I tell him what I want- I really don't know but would like to think he could get off his backside and just go and pick something- especially as he is not working at the moment.(between jobs)

DiscoDaisy · 08/12/2011 10:12

I've already had my GHD for christmas as I couldn't wait.
My OH is also getting me Sims 3 for my DS as I've lost the one I had and the DC are getting me Kindle vouchers.
I said I didn't want anything as the straighteners weren't cheap but he wanted me to have something on christmas day to open.

Dumpyandabdabs · 08/12/2011 10:13

We gave up buying actual gifts for each other when we had the kids a few years ago however we usually try and get tickets for something. This year I've bought Rhod Gilbert tickets for April, so excited!

DiscoDaisy · 08/12/2011 10:13

I'm getting him 2 Xbox 360 games from me and the DC that he doesn't know about!

Flisspaps · 08/12/2011 10:33

I have no idea what I'm getting. We set a £20 limit and DH had 'stuff' delivered to the house for weeks - I'm sure he's massively overspent, and I'll feel terrible because he's only getting a toy model car that he's wanted for ages and a box of Lindt chocolates.

TeaOneSugarPlumFairy · 08/12/2011 11:50

I'm getting some diamond stud earrings, I chose them so not a surprise. I'm sure DH will get me a lovely surprise as well, last year he bought me a dress, which both fitted and suited me Xmas Smile.

babyonbord · 08/12/2011 12:13

its really nice when a man makes the effort to get you a nice gift, it makes you feel special i love that about my dh he can be so thoughtful, we didnt have a lot of spare cash last xmas i'd just found out i was pregnant and mamas and papas is expensive and we had just moved into our new house and it needed a lot of work doing to it but he still managed to get some lovely xmas gifts

ReshapeWhileDamp · 08/12/2011 12:24

I usually have an Amazon wishlist with books, cds and dvds (which I never have time to watch Hmm) on, mostly for my brother (who lives abroad, so it's easier for him) and parents. But DH usually gets me some things from it and while they're obviously things I wanted, there's zero surprise there. This year, I specifically asked him to shop on Etsy for me and provided him with a list of possibles with links. Hope he managed to get round to it and remembered about posting times from America. My list of possibles included things like handmade glass beads for a silver bracelet, a print, and a necklace.

He is getting a Kindle, and not the 'cheapest' type either. He does deserve something treaty like that though, he works bloody hard and has had a really demoralising year at work. (Though at least he still has a job.)

CuriousMama · 08/12/2011 14:01

Sounds like there are lots of very caring OHs out there Smile

babyonbord you'll enjoy camping I'm sure. Are you taking airbeds? Have the dogs been before? We took our in April not sure we will again Hmm He loved it but he barked at every noise so we weren't very popular Blush

A shovel and a brush (for the stables) and an umbrella.

I will probably buy him his annual toilet brush Xmas Grin

ladydeedy · 08/12/2011 19:05

aah, I think I am getting a book and some shower gel. that's all I want to be honest. The most important thing for us is to have a lovely Christmas at home with some gorgeous food and wine and go for some nice walks in the countryside with our dog and meet up with family (between Christmas and New Year). We'll go on a nice holiday in the sun end Jan/early Feb and that's our "present" to eachother.

CuriousMama · 08/12/2011 19:10

Grin @ toilet brush, will it be a novelty one Exit?

ladydeedy holiday early next year sounds fab. We went to Spain again in October and that was supposed to be our main Christmas gift for the family. Think it'll be UK for us next year but we love it too.

ladydeedy · 08/12/2011 19:15

Yes we are hoping for winter sun but it may be UK! Either way, I know it will be great!

feedthegoat · 08/12/2011 19:25

A replacement for the wedding ring I haven't worn for several years. It is way too small for me and I don't like yellow gold anymore.

He's also bought me a new cage for the hamster from ebay. He belongs to ds really but he's so sweet and I end up playing with him at night anyway. We have bought a savic hamster heaven and it looks amazing. We collect it on sunday, I'm ridiculously excited about my little rodent having so much room to play! Dh was slightly bemused by my choice mind.

CuriousMama · 08/12/2011 19:35

Yes it's good to get away ladydeedy.

feedthegoat how exciting for your hamster and you Wink I used to have guinea pigs but exdh got custody, he didn't look after them as well as I did though.

Oh dear....... think DH might have got me a very very bad present.

Went on amazon today and know he had been on it earlier and on the first screen, where they recommend you things related to what you've just bought/looked at, were loads of pictures of skin tight lace dresses, the type a hooker might wear.

Methinks its a present for him?????

Nothing. Never do.

CuriousMama · 08/12/2011 20:05

CDM let's hope it is for him? Wink

Ooo am Xmas Envy of your dh herbietea would love the bird stuff. We only have a yard now so I have to make do with hanging half coconuts with seeds and fat in and some nuts. I used to love watching them. Had 4 robins at once in my old garden they did chase each other though but was amazing.

gregssausageroll · 08/12/2011 20:12

Well, I have sold heaps of stuff on ebay and made £300. I have paid it into the bank and I hope that DH has been listening and will pay the extra £99 and get me a much longed for ipad!

Ragwort · 08/12/2011 20:16

Yes, because I choose my own presents and he wraps them - and he does the same; sounds unromantic but I can't stand his choice and don't want any more crap unwanted stuff Xmas Grin.

ExitPursuedBySanta · 08/12/2011 20:17

Nah - the toilet brush is not a novelty one. I am one of the anti toilet brush brigade (see many threads on the subject), DH is pro. I loathe the damn things as I think they harbour crap germs and so like to throw them away regularly, hence the annual Christmas present.
