We have decided to get one for 10 year old dd this year.

Where is the best place to buy? I don't really want to buy something like this online in case I have problems, I want to have somewhere to take it to.

I was thinking maybe John Lewis...? Or is it worth buying direct from the Apple shop so they can set it up?

Also which memory size is the best to go for?

DS just got one last week for his birthday.

Argos quite often have good deals on Ipods, it's really easy to set up so you shouldn't need any help in store.

DS's is an 8gb.

i would go for the biggest memory you can, my ds has 8g and dd has 32g, i would never buy an 8g again, it fills up too quick, he does have a film on their but dd has 3 and all the music and games, ds [8g] can not have all the music as well as the film and games

I got a refurbished one from the Apple site. They all get new cases and batteries and full guarantee so its just like buying a new one but cheaper. Grin

Thanks, I think I will go for the 32g one, don't think she needs the v big memory and much more expensive. Argos only seem to heavily discounting the 8g one....

If you get it from Apple they do free engraving.

Hulababy · 05/12/2011 20:49

Definutely go bigger than 8gig. DD's is 8gig and we have to be quite selective over which games she puts on now as it is full of her music.

I got a white 8g one from Apple for £154 with engraving. I don't think Argos's prices make sense. I've not seen the 8g at £174.99 anywhere so don't understand how they can be saying £149.99 is £25 off. From my research £149.99 for the black 8g is the standard price.

I think 32 would be good. I have a 64 and with loads of films, tv progs and music it's only 3/4 full. My sons 8 is fine but we do have to manage the space a bit.
