Is anyone else really not bothered about getting presents this year?

I'm not trying to be all pious and one of those "oh I just love the gift of giving" types... I have lots and lots. All I really need is practical stuff like a couple of new tops that don't need to be smart as I dont' need to wear smart stuff to work.

I can't think of a thing I want or need. And for the first time I'm not that bothered, even if I dont' get a single present on Christmas day.

I'm getting old aren't I?

I never really want or need anything for Christmas but I do love the sight of beautifully wrapped presents. I'm just not that interested in what's inside them.

Perhaps I'll just request a number of empty boxes wrapped extravagantly Xmas Grin

Totally agree - fortunately my DH is the same so we just buy things for the house or choose stuff for ourselves and then the other person wraps it up - sounds 'unexciting' but I would much, much rather select my own present than be given random crap stuff that ends up in the charity shop.

I too find it really hard to understand anyone over the age of 18 who gets 'upset' at not having a present Xmas Hmm

Bacon sardines? Sound interesting! That's what I want for Christmas!!

IME it's the having children that changes things. Before I had them I would be quite excited about what I would get others, and what I might be given. Now I just look forward to how much the DCs love all the Christmas thing.

First time this year me and my sister and not buying for each other, but just for each others children. DH is only getting a few bits really. I have bought my own from DH so I will enjoy him finding out what he has bought me ( a lovely set of bamboo knitting needles and a standard lamp to knit by )

Don't want or need anything else really, got unread books everywhere already, have already accidentally bought too many chocs for presents, whoops I'll eat the spares.

Have been with DP fifteen years and some years we "do" Christmas presents and some years we don't.

This year we have decided not to, mainly because neither of us really wants anything. Neither of us are particularly consumerist so can't bear just buying for the sake of it.

Not remotely excited & haven't been for years. I'll be happy to get a some nice chocs and something good to read.
