Wii help - basic but urgent!

We have a Wii that is about 3-4 years old. I don't know what type it is. All DS wants for Christmas is a another Wii remote for friends etc. In fact it's a third remote. Can I just buy a Wi remote, or will a Wii remote plus work? Don't under stand at all they keep talking about Motion plus and things and I'm at a loss.

Brilliant thank you. Console has been on a very long lend so didn't buy the original and never had to get to grips with the technical side of things.

Only know about games. Well sort of.

either will work. Dont worry about types, despite various colours they are all the same.

some of the newer games need the plus. basically it stops you being able to do tiny movements for big tennis swings etc. look at the back of his favourite multiplayer games and they should say if they need the plus or not (top right corner, i forget the exact symbol). Personally I'd plum for the plus if you can afford as it never hurts to have that bit extra IYKWIM as you never know if you will need it.

The nunchuck part comes separately so you may need to get one of those too, but they are fairly simple and all the same really. HTH
