I had a good one once which was nice mug with posh hot chocolate ingredients plus mini marshmallows - thought I'd make a mental note at the time!

Do you know who the recipient is? Age/gender/likes and interests type thing?

i have one to buy, lovely lady, age 46, smokes, drinks the vino, £5 to spend. NOT a bally clue!

• classic DVD - 30s romance, or b/w film eg The Apartment
• Christmas crooners CD + Baileys miniature (or other booze)
• Notecards plus pen plus stamp book
• Scented candle (perhaps more for a woman)
• Top end magazine - Vogue/ Conde Nast Travel etc
• pocket handwarmer

Aldi have a lot of boozy gift boxes in just now, little miniatures or single bottles with a glass, and they had Bailey's and (something else similar) sets, with chocolate cups to pour shots into.

lush do secret santa boxes for about £5 or you could make one yourself :)

asos are great for this kind of thing. Lots of beauty and accessories for less than a tenner and they do free delivery if you can wait a week or so.

Window bird feeder

Christmas candle (if early enough an advent candle)

Novel (I'm loving 12 day of Christmas if you're looking for Christmas trash!)

Fluffy socks

Cath kidston stationary - diary (bit personal) or post-its or notebook or note lets.

well, i;ve got her 3 little bottles of black tower and will get bed socks. boring?

I do not want:

cheap smellies

cheap chocolates
tacky jewellery
a plant/seeds
something 'fun'

I would be v happy with:
a tiny box of nice chocs
posh hot chocolate
good coffee/tea
a nice pen or notebook

best Secret Santa we had was a wine cooler, a picnic one, that folds up flat, bit like a beer one but bigger

You can get lovely frying pans for a fiver that are suitable for one fried egg on play.com and the like.

Can I join this thread with my problem - 30ish man likes looking after himself gym etc?

For two female friends, I have bought:

this compact mirror, which turned out be silver

and this other one, which comes in a presentation box and with a protective pouch.

Both are very nice for the price.

I'd always go for something disposable or edible.

Posh chocolates, jams, chutneys, olive oil etc

Personally I'd hate scented candles, picture frames, plants or gift packs of toiletries.

The DVD or CD of Christmas crooners mentioned upthread wouldn't make it home

One of my secret Santas have got the MN scarf in grey and the other a silver bracelet from Pia ( half price when I spent my birthday vouchers). A tenner each so well pleased.
