Used Not On The High Street (one word) last night for the first time and it's fantastic!

Just a recommendation if you're struggling for someone or want something special. Got some really unique stuff.

I got some chocolate chillies
a hand and foot print personalised keyring for DH of DC
a fab wash bag
a combination bottle stop
a wooden button coaster
and a bird house!

And it cost you more than £420 for that little lot. They saw you coming. Arf.

Alternatively, it cost you much less than that due to the staff discount and this post is an advert and NOT ALLOWED ON MUMSNET.

Which is it - naive fool or cheat? {passive-aggressive Smile)

ProperLush · 22/11/2011 08:49

Wow, sassy, that was a bit uncalled for!

I've never looked at their site but I must say I've noticed stuff in Sunday supplements that looks off-beat and cool that's stocked by notonthehighstreet.

HeadsRollingInTheAisles · 22/11/2011 08:51

I like a lot of stuff on there and it's not all overpriced at all

culturevulture · 22/11/2011 08:53

Isn't it interesting how different people read threads?

I look at this and think, weel it does seem expensive but some lovely things and definately good for those tricky people you just can't find presents for.

I would never have thought advert

Daftapath · 22/11/2011 09:02

I like their website although i have never bought anything from them because I don't want to pay a delivery charge for every item I order. I prefer to order from one site and pay one charge.

If they did 'Free Delivery' weekends, it would be fab!

Would also like to be able to compare items all on one page. Sometimes all the stuff is rather overwhelming.

Wink

Dd was at nursery with the son of one of the owners and she is lovely.

JinxAndFluff · 22/11/2011 09:02

Some cushions in there were the exact same price as a shop in my town centre if that's any help.....
I bought personalised cards and pretty unique xmas tree decorations and their delivery was fantastic...
And I definitely don't work for them (wish I did...)

attheendoftheday · 22/11/2011 09:05

I like Notonthehighstreet too. A lot of their stuff is expensive, but I have got some reasonably priced presents from there too.

You could say evey time someone recommends a store or product that's it's an advert, but I don't see it that way.

Freakyfroggie · 22/11/2011 09:07

Erm, surely the op was just sharing what she had bought and a good web site to have a look at if anybody is stuck for gift ideas. Have I missed something, how do you know how much she spent?

SuzieP29 · 22/11/2011 09:41

LOVE NOTHS. Discovered it last Xmas and got a good few wee bits and bobs. They were pretty expensive (everything is from different sellers so you can't combine postage) but everything was great. I've also bought a personalised new baby card from them and the mum said she'd seen nothing like it before! Was £10 mind you, but a keepsake.

Wee tip: Stuff on NOTHS is sometimes slightly more expensive than if bought directly from the seller. You can find out who makes the items, google them, and see if they have a website to check out. I did that last year and got a great xmas teacher gift (mentioned in another thread) and it worked out cheaper! Managed to find a wee discount code too! (quids in!)

:D

BoysBoysBoysAndMe · 22/11/2011 11:11

Bad morning sassy?

You're obviously that cheesed off to comment.

I actually work for Swarovski - is that an advert too? And I do get a lovely discount there Grin

I love noths! Shall we call you Ebenezer Sassy?

NotJustKangaskhan · 22/11/2011 11:51

While I like the website, I found many of the items are actually found on the high street easily and at a better price.

wheredidiputit · 22/11/2011 13:37

I like this website. But I also go through quidco so I get 5% cashback as well.

BoysBoysBoysAndMe · 22/11/2011 14:08

ooh, quidco? Not heard of that, I'll be having a look!

OP posts:
culturevulture · 24/11/2011 16:44

I think Quidco are offering 8% cashback at the moment

GetOutMyPub · 24/11/2011 17:07

You can also buy the same stuff on etsy.com or folksy.com straight from the maker for a better price. (etsy is US based but International, Folksy is UK based international)

I do think it is a really lovely site though advert or not (I get the email but sadly out of my price budget these days)

nothingoldcanstay · 24/11/2011 23:33

We have a shop on the high street that sells most of their the non personalised stuff - for less then they charge. And they wrap it nicely with a little wishing shell attached.

SootySweepandSue · 24/11/2011 23:40

It's far too samey for me and pricey. Prefer to get real originals on Etsy. It does not live up to 'not on the high street' at all IMO. High st is a pretty irrelevant term nowadays though.

omaoma · 24/11/2011 23:59

i love NOTHS but it's v expensive. TBH i have copied some of the more craft-y items in there once or twice with pretty good results!

MortaIWombat · 25/11/2011 05:27

Awww, bless Hmm

And mummy's very talented too

Feeling a bit mean.
But yes, I agree, there are some lovely things on there.
just not these

KenDoddsDadsDog · 25/11/2011 06:16

I like the group gifting option, have used it a few times for pressies.

SwedeHeart · 25/11/2011 06:22

I like NOTHS. You are ALWAYS going to be charged for postage - it's a business they are running. If it's not a separate postage charge then it's added to cost of the item.

If you had to get to the shop you would need to spend money getting there.

I don't see where the OP mentioned how much she paid for it so don't understand some of the posters going on about cost.
