Stocking presents; to wrap or not to wrap?

I would never wrap a stocking present, but I have heard that other people do, but which is normal?

Always wrap, it adds to the suspense/excitement the next morning.

Always wrap - or its all over too quickly..

A small stocking at the end of each bed, a sweetie/confetti trail from the bed to the tree, and Santa's presents under the tree. (well, left in piles around the living room as the tree is usually packed already).

Santa's presents before breakfast, all others after.

Its fair to say Santa goes fairly over the top here. Grin

and not forgetting the bits of chewed up carrots on the front step, usually DH's job. nice.

It's never occurred to me to wrap stocking presents - surely it takes ages and is very fiddly when some of the presents are tiny? The stockings I received as a child never had wrapped presents.

peeriebear · 20/11/2011 17:33

I have never wrapped stocking presents! Mine were never wrapped as a child either. Such fun to put your hand in and bring out each new treasure without having to unwrap everything.

As a child everything was wrapped - even the satsuma! It's all part of the fun!

I wrap some things and then leave bits and bobs and chocolate unwrapped

Agree with HipHop

knittedbreast · 21/11/2011 06:43

wrapped, always except the chocolate coins!

schroeder · 21/11/2011 12:01

looks like a resounding 'wrap' Shock

I will carry on doing my way though. I think I'm also in the minority in that we use ordinary stockings and not big bags/pillowcases.

NEVER WRAP STOCKING GIFTS!!!!

why would you wrap stocking presents? its the length of your arm and width of a jotter. you just fill it with interesting sweets, chocolates and little silly toys like a joke book or dvd or make up or thomas trains or something, surely??

thats what we do anyway. then i wrap everything else except the main present for each kid. oh and i dont wrap their annual or selection box. so they can quickly figure out which bundle is theirs when they go into the livingroom.

my sil grew up with 4 siblings and santa never wrapped anything. they just got a bundle each on a part of the couch/floor. i can understand why santa did that - he would be demented wrapping all that for 5 kids! but i dont think id like that. my 3 love ripping open.

Ohforfoxsake · 21/11/2011 13:10

If you use standard stockings and pillow cases you can fill them beforehand and just switch them over for the one's at the end of the bed. Assuming you have two of everything for each child of course.

Yes, don't forget to wrap each child's presents in different paper from the stuff you use! That's how my little sister sussed it.

gregssausageroll · 21/11/2011 13:36

wrap in same paper as santa's main present as stocking come from him!
