Leappad V Innotab..... which is best?

Thats it really! Thinking of getting one for ds as his sisters will be getting real tablets for christmas and think he would like to have his own one, they both look similar, is there any real difference? can you download apps on both of them?

And can I download games for them, instead of buying them, as games in this house have a habit of ending up in the bath/bin/toilet, I would much rather download, also, does anyone know if they come with and games on them, or would he need to have games with it for christmas morning?
