Ideas for dd3 (4) please

Arrgghh - dd3 is the sort of child who wants everything she sees (well for about 5 minutes then forgets about it lol). She'll see things on tv and in catalogues and say 'I want that one and that one and that one' etc.

There isn't anything she'd really like so I don't know where to start! She's the youngest of 3 girls so we already have loads of dolls, pretend play stuff, Polly Pocket, Sylvanians etc. I did think about the Sylvanian caravan, it looks really cute, but I think maybe 4 is a bit too young for all those small pieces to go missing. She loves drawing but we already have loads of art materials. Still likes Peppa Pig but already have loads of PP toys.

What are you buying for your 4 year olds this year?

Does she have a bike?

Will she notice, at 4, not getting a 'big' present? My 4 year old is getting a globe (one of his friends from nursery has just moved to Canada so thought it would help him get the concept a bit), a dvd, some vehicles, pyjamas, and some stocking fillers, and I think he'll find these things pretty exciting.

Getting dd 4 (just about to be!) sylvanian family things, playmobil but she is very very careful with her "small" toys. Getting a scooter from the gps

Oh and a treasure box with her name on for xmas.

blue - she has a balance bike and after the mistake I made with my other 2, she won't be getting a proper bike until she's mastered the balance bike lol.

cant beat a mini micro scooter for any age though! theyre fab - dd got one last month for bday and goes to preschool everyday on it!

sunnyday, I like the sound of the barbie mermaid - dd would love that I think.

My DD - 5 in March is getting:

Plus her stocking

they were red from £20 to £15 in argos last week - not sure if they still are. It seems expensive but both my dds have similar mermaid dolls for the bath and they get played with everynight for ages so i decided to invest in the light up one as it has good reviews.

My 4yr old is exactly the same - see something, has an 'ahhh" moment then forgets about it.

For christmas we have got her a really cool set of coloured building bricks, a thomas train set (she loves him), Toy Story Aqua Doodle and some play food for her kitchen. That will keep her occupied for ages!

If your DD likes animals we got her a fab stables and 2 horses from here last year. Very well played with and her GP's are getting her some more bits for it this year

I do have a big soft spot for Sylvanian Families though. She plays a lot with the nursery she got last year. We have a lunchbox where all the small bits go and she's quite good at tidying it away.

I'm quite interested to know...seems like a lot of presents some people are buying. Will they all be from you and dh?

My dh thinks they should only have one present each but that seems a bit mean to me...

Wow one present? Mine have 20 each from me and dh and then loads from family. Although many are practical things and inexpensive - slippers, smellies, art/craft stuff. Only one main each - bike and scooter this year.

Everybody is different though and there's no right amount - i was brought up having lots of presents at xmas even though my parents couldn't afford it - they just liked the 'look' of a lot of stuff - prob still spent less than £150-200 but were good at making it look like a fortune!

I have kind of copied it based on how much i loved it as a kid - both dds main presents are £80-£100 and then i've spent say £200 between on bits and bobs between them but there is no right and wrong and i think its what you can afford. I love buying my dds at xmas as i dont buy gifts throughout (except bdays) and they actually are good at playing with everything i buy - its actually more for me as toys keep my dds entertained for hours!! :)

OMG SunnyDay- £150-200 is a fortune!
Was planning on spending about £30-£50 on DD (4) including the stocking fillers.

My 4 year old DD (5 in March) dictated her list last night to her dad with lots of exuberant hand gestures and she would like:

Dora that can go in the water (Splash and Surprise Dora)
Fairy Dora with wand (Magic Fairy Dora I think)
Lots of Zoobles in a BIG SET
Princess Celestia (My Little Pony)
Basket for bike
Tinkerbell torch

We have been trying to get her a Leappad Explorer and finally got hold of one today in our local Tesco. She hasn't asked for that but is very keen on playing with a phone so will love it i think. She could also do with some arts and crafts things and some actual games to play but family members might get her some of those things.

mumdebump we are the same. My 3 haven't really asked for anything except DS who wants a packet of mighty beanz. I'll also get him a nerf gun, dd1 a 1000-piece puzzle and dd2 (5) a zhu zhu hamster with car. Also stocking with sweets and a few bits and pieces.

Mine behave worse the more they get!

Also we'll do some day trips, go out for lunch etc over the holidays so the dcs know there needs to be money for that too.
