Which I'm good atGrin.
MIL had bought some prosecco for Christmas Morning and would like Bellini's instead of Buck Fizz. However, i can't seem to find any peach juice or puree in the supermarket.
What can I use instead? Would peach schnapps work (although would give a higher alcohol content)

my local tesco sell it in the non-refrigerated juices aisle?

It's not as nice with schnapps.

LowLevelWhiiingeing · 10/11/2011 11:08

oh look, you can get it on Amazon.

Who knew??!

SoupDragon · 10/11/2011 11:13

If you want your MIL completely pissed by mid morning and possibly comatose by lunchtime, make it with peach schnapps and possibly Archers as well (which I think may be the same thing).

What the hell, add a slug of vodka in too :o

Saltire · 10/11/2011 11:16

soupdragon are you a mind readerGrin. I did think of getting her knocked out but was also thinking of myself, don't want to be too drunk so early in the day

lowlevel thanks for that. My local tesco ( big one) doesn't sell it, so I'll havea look in Asda maybe, failing that Amazon it is

That's easy - you are in control of topping up glasses.

I may try this at my mothers actually - she is hilarious when even slightly tipsy :o

I buy peach puree for bellinis from here and it's super! We have used them a couple of times when we've thrown Christmas parties and everyone has commented on how yummy the drinks were. Delivery is usually really fast.

You could, I guess, make your own puree by whizzing up a tin of peaches in a food processor, maybe adding a bit of the syrup/juice to loosen the mixture.

Bellinis made with peach schnapps are, in my experience, horrid. They taste really plasticky and don't count towards your fruit intake for the day!

Saltire · 10/11/2011 11:18

Hmm, yes I could put vodka in hers and no one elsesGrin

I always just wizz up tinned peach's in juice.

angelpantser · 10/11/2011 11:20

Would this do the trick? Granini Peach Drink

LordOfTheFlies · 10/11/2011 11:22

Archers and Orange Juice - a fuzzy naval. One of your 5-a-day

If you look in with the UHT fruit juices there's usually peach juice in glass bottles.
It's nice with OJ as it's thick.

(I don't drink alcohol but I'm putting peach juice on my shopping list) Grin

planetpotty · 10/11/2011 11:25

I had this problem best I could find was I thin peach and mango at tesco nobody noticed. Thanks for the reminder think ill do them christmas morning too Smile
(had them at our wedding and everyone loves them).

LordOfTheFlies · 10/11/2011 11:27

Granini Peach Juice is luvverly, well chilled, lots of ice to dilute it a bit.

YougreatPumpkinmousse · 10/11/2011 11:29

We get ours from Lidl or Aldi - it is 50% peach puree and lovely and thick. mmmmmmm

winefairy · 10/11/2011 12:02

Our Waitrose stocks the Funkin one. 'Tis delish. And I may just steal your Christmas morning Bellini idea too if I may, Saltire. Much preferable to Bucks Fizz.

Catsmamma · 10/11/2011 12:05

Lidl and Aldi both sell this peach nectar.....nectar rather than juice is best. ALso Lidl Prosecco is gorgeous and has been very highly rated in blind tastings

it used to be £3.49 before the ratings, now it's £4.99 !

lordsugarslovechild · 10/11/2011 16:04

I think I'll nick this idea. Love Prosecco. Must get down to Lidl then. What a treat!!!
