Good toys from America for DS aged 5

I am hoping, as ever, that someone will be able to offer advice. MIL is going on a shopping trip to New York later this month and has asked what she can bring back for DS. I think she is hoping to buy his Xmas present there. Can anyone recommend any really good toys that can't be found here? He loves small world play (has lots of Playmobil already), animals and is just beginning to show an interest in Lego.

Many thanks

Does he like disney cars?
If your mother in law can get Lewis Hamilton from cars 2 in USA, then he's worth a lot here and will be a collectors item in future.
They are selling for a lot of money on ebay, from kmart or target.

Ds1(6) has been on at me for one of the bakugan megaloid collussus (?)(!) for Xmas that they have been promoting heavily on the tv recently. For a whopping 40 quid. Gulp.

I googled it to see if anyone did it cheaper - and amazon.com are currently selling it for $13.50 which is about £8.70. Not to mention the fact that one of the reviewers was complaint amazon was too expensive as they'd got it on clearance in Walmart for $9.99...

£8 sounds a fair price for it! Also they won't ship to England :( but if you could persuade her to pick one up for you if she could you would have a happy little boy and saved a fortune.

It seems to be 7 bakugan that fit together to create one big one. Ds has a couple that he's had as presents that he adores, just little monstery things that fold up into a solid shape, bit like transformers but no car when folded. I was a bit Hmm to start with but they seem to be pretty robust and they have lots of games them fold up small if you're out and want a toy to slip in a handbag or the car.

But £40 rrp? No way. Especially when they are being sold for peanuts elsewhere!

My parents usually go to the States before christmas and want to buy my two dcs their presents whilst there.

I love it because I can look on the Target store website from here and see what they have and what is cheaper over there. I can even look at stock availability and send them to the nearest store with items in stock.

This year, Star Wars Lego will be on the list but now I need to find something for dd!
