does anybody know which stage of making you can add edible glitter to marmalade...?

I've never made marmalade before, let alone glittery marmalade!

Fab idea! I love it! I'd say the final stage, just before it starts to gel, while it's still liquid so that it mixes through properly. If you've never made marmalade before, may I suggest Mamade? Tinned, prepared fruit, either lemon or orange, available from many supermarkets. I last got it at Morrisons. If you've never used the glitter before, be warned, it goes everywhere! I plan to make macaroons with glitter in them- chocolate with gold might look good. Presumably you know the plates-in-the freezer thing?

You'd need to be sure the glitter won't melt in the marmalade.

I thought I'd try the first batch with the Lakeland tinned fruit - think it's similar to Mamade...
Plates in the freezer?
And soup-dragon, that's what I'm worried about!

You put several plates in the freezer to chill, then bring one out when you think the marmalade is about ready. Drop a small amount on a cold plate, leave for a moment then rub your finger over the patch. It should wrinkle if the marmalade has begun to set. No wrinkles = cook it a bit longer and retest.

The glitter I use comes from ebay and might melt, I suppose, although in my experience it's pretty well indistructable. I spilled some on my cooker while icing cakes and I can't gt it to go away. Every time I think it's gone a bit more appears!
Could you make the marmalade then put one jar's worth in another pan and add glitter? Then at least you haven't wasted much if it goes wrong. Do you have a jam funnel? They really help.

Just to let you know, I made 30 jars and it looks and tastes flipping FANTASTIC! Thanks all :)
