Question about making flavoured vodka

Can I use a clean lemonade bottle to store/mix it up? If you have to sterilise it will it melt in a dishwasher?
Thanks!

Give it a good rinse out with the vodka first? Alcohol is a disinfectant.

Can't you use the vodka bottle? Confused

Yes you can, I currently have three old coke bottles with christmas pudding vodka brewing in it. I just washed mine out and swished with vodka.

I alway use glass bottles if I am making the vodka in the dishwasher. I'd be worried about the insides melting into the drink.

If you are just fermenting it then you will probably be ok, but I remember from DH's foray into beer making that he had to buy special plastic bottles for it - something about the make-up of normal plastic bottles (sorry, can't ask at the mo, he's still asleep!)

any glass bottles will do, I've had Werthers Vodka in a Daddies Sauce bottle before now!

I don't think the vodka bottle will be big enough once the rest of the ingredients have been put in.
Thanks for the replies though, need to get cracking really!

Keep the vodka you take out of the top in the lemonade bottle and use the glass bottle for the Flavoured stuffWink
