Do you have any traditions for putting the tree up?

This year I shall be warming some mince pies, drinking mulled cider whilst we put the tree up, putting carols on while we do it, turning the lights off and turning the tree lights on to get a pic of ds's face when he sees it lit up and finally make something a bit special and festive for tea!
I'm hoping this actually happens and we don't revert to bickering about it :-)

Over to you,

What is this obsession with traditions, traditions?

Well since you ask, dh has always wanted us to stand round the tree and sing O Christmas Tree. Now that the dds are teens it has become a fine farce. The 13 year old still tries to please her dad, the 15 year old now refuses to stand up let alone sing, dh looks crestfallen and I knock back teh port.

This is not a tradition. This is a nonsense with a bit of mawksih sentimentality thrown in.

dd2's birthday is the 13th and the tree is never up for her birthday -I do it on my next day off after her BD as I want her to have birthday photos when she is older and not have to struggle to work out if it is a christmas or birthday photo

I buy it first week in december to make sure I get a good one and then leave it in the garden until I am ready for it

bought a krinner tree stand -best invention ever!!!
put tree up on my day off whilst the kids are at school, and put the lights on. They then decorate it when they get home and I will re-do it once they have gone to bed Grin
