My (almost) 8 year old also loves the classics - Oliver, Annie, Wizard of Oz ... This year I'm thinking of getting her the Narnia DVDs as they're only £5 in Tesco and she's liked the books. Also getting her some horrible histories DVDs as she loves those too.
