I've started this thread to shamelessly steal your ideas :)

Pre DC we had Chinese takeaway whilst watching Muppets Christmas Carol.

The last 2 years we have had family over for tea so we don't have to entertain anyone Christmas day :o
I've done a buffet both years, ham, nibbles etc but am wanting to try something different. Boxing day will be buffet day now.

LazyDaisy the dip idea sounds lovely but in our house we would omit the steak mince.

We do a dip of onion (in food processor) blend then add Philly Cheese -full fat gives best texture- then add tomato ketchup to give a nice pink colour and flavour.

Iceberg lettuce with chopped onion and grated cheddar

A 'salsa' of finely chopped onion, green peppers, deseeded tomato chopped and fresh mint

This could be layered up and served with tortilla chips and carrot sticks. Yum!

Always used to have a curry on Christmas eve, 'til I got poisoned by a chicken passanda by a local restaurant about 5 years ago, and havent been able to stomach curry since! Now, we have gammon in cherry coke a la Nigella, with steamed veg and Aldi Potato Gratin, which is super delicious, super easy and 99p Grin...........tip a couple into a dish, bung in the oven and voila.....nice easy meal, to make up for the chaos the following day brings (dinner for 11-12, with everyone mucking in and making things worse helping Grin ) I bloody love Christmas!
