Message from Father Christmas

Hi everyone.. I'm new here so forgive me...

I'm trying to find out people's thoughts on an idea that a colleague of mine had today. She suggested we start a service where parents can send texts to their kids' phone from 'Father Christmas', or from 'The Tooth Fairy', or from the 'Easter Bunny'...

My kids are too young to have mobiles at the moment but I thought that if they were a bit older it might be something I would use - what do people think?

well even my nearly 10 year old doesn't have a mobile and would probably scoff at a text from the easter bunny! so a no from me i'm afraid

Therein lies your problem. Those who are old enough to have a mobile are unlikely to believe in any of those.

Besides, phone numbers come up as whatever you save them as, not necessarily your name.

Just as an FYI, we work for a company that can change the 'From' field to actually say 'Father Christmas' or whatever you want...

i dont think it would work. kids are getting mobiles earlier bt they are also losing thier innocence to the magical earlier.

I dont think it would work at all.

However if you could leave vms on the house phone from father christmas`s elves on the run up to christmas or soething. maybe mum could get a call from santa (recorded obv).

if you use that and make millions i want a cut :)

Rubbish idea for the reasons stated above. My husband has a voicemail on his phone that he recorded of himself playing the part father christmas - it fool's 3yr old dd so why would we pay for a similar service?

Also there are free webistes which offer video messages from father christmas to the child (these are personalised messages with lots of details about the child so need to pay for something less good.

Christmas 2009 I bought the NSPCC 'Letters from Santa' for my DCs.
They are old enough to know the truth but it was a sweet idea, and the NSPCC benefits.( they are £5 each IIRC)
Might be nice for younger children.(Mine are 9 and 11.6)
