Anyone else still got a sea of unopened presents under the tree?

I must have overdone it this year, but it is the first year that the two children have understood what Christmas is all about so I probably went overboard.

There were literally millions of presents. Not necessarily worth loads as I did things like wrap individual pots of homemade playdough of different colours etc and they are still young enough to get away with used toys from ebay/charity shop etc. but still.

Now the thing is, each of them (4 and 2) open a present and then what to play with it. I thought it a bit mean to tell them to stop to open another present and also worried that opening one after another will devalue them all.

Anyone else looking like their decorations will have to say up until March?

er..........no!! DS is 3 and didn't even have enough to fill his sack that he has lol

oh....oops. Honestly, they didn't cost much, but the beauty of second hand is that if you get one playmobil ship set, you can wrap up the people seperately, and the bits that go on the ship, and the treasure chest with the swords in it, and the sails, and as long as you monitor the order they are opened in, the children can still play with them until the next bit arrives iyswim.

Also, they both got a new toothbrush, small tube of smarties, homemade scrap paper books (recycled from used printer paper) etc. The great thing about this age is that you can get away with it.

oh yes, mostly DS's stuff was second hand, but NO WAY in the world would he had stuff still sat there he very ery carefully unwrapped each thing, had a good look, then placed it in a neat pile to unwrap the next one I actually lyooked at his pile and thought he didn't have much, but actually it WAS plenty and he was more than happy. But then I couldn't be bothered wrapping everything so seperately either - we were up til half two wrapping as it was

Yeah. I kinda thought if I could make as many presents as possible, I could sit there with my sherry whilst the kids spent all day in silence unwrapping.

Interestingly that was not how Christmas day went, and I spent 3 weeks beforehand - wrapping!

lol, 3 weeks we were so behind that DH went into the kitchen to wrap my things, I had the living room to wrap his and my parents things then we both sat and wrapped DS's together.. It was all very thrown togtehr

My DS is a bit...........................er.........peculier though. He wouldn't have played with anything as he went along as he had more to unwrap - hence the careful stacking he wouldn't eat sweets or anything til he got home either (say if we were out at the shops)

My dc's still have most of their presents left, they have unwrapped something and spent ages playing with it. they seem to get more enjoyment out of it. Perhaps it is that age?(2&4) the 2 year old is more interested in unwrapping my presents for some reason.

They got quite a lot of presents, 10 each, but nothing expensive, mostly stuff that has been bought in sales or cheap because the box is damaged or something. they had about 12 stocking presents each too and are still unwrapping those. I assumed we were the only family who are still unwrapping presents in January.
