anyone else do this? in the past we have given a bike lock for a birthday pressie, and left the actual bike until the dc has given up all hope of getting the pressie he actually asked for Grin

tonight i have wrapped up the chargers, games, cases and accesoried for the boys dsi's and left the consoles wrapped and hidden in a cupboard until they look all confused Wink

cruelty?

nah, course not. Funny.

After last year, they'll soon get the idea. Could you not do some sort of treasure hunt around the house - clues on Post it notes, or similar each with a gift attached, and ending at the aforementioned cupboard containing DSi's

Not dc's but I did once wrap a huge box, filled with tons of stuffing for my brother. Nestled in the very middle were 5 tin ashtrays from Burger King.

There was no other gift. Xmas Grin

it is new to these dc's this year, previous trick was played on older dss Grin

would it be cruelty to make them record a video to santa thanking him for the presents BEFORE giving them the consoles- just imagine the forced thankfulness Grin maybe i won't... they are only 5 Wink

oh, dh has a MASSIVE box, with big arrows saying this way up and i have been 'very cautious' with it- he is very intrigued... it contains the chopped up innards of wrapping paper tubes and an IOU note from amazon as they failed to deliver the hair trimmer he wanted Grin I am a bitch Grin!

Well I think I have inadvertently played a trick on Ds. His main present is a iPhone dock speaker which he is getting. Unfortunately I have no idea where he has put his iPhone and he can't remember either. It is going to make for an interesting Christmas morning!

Last year I wrapped a large box for DSS (13). He was hoping for a PS3 so it appeared to fit the bill. It contained several heavy books and a box of 20 haircombs.

We wrap each DCs present in the same wrapping paper as their stocking stuff so he knew that was all he was getting...

Until DD (in on the joke) unwrapped her own huge box which had DSS's wrapping paper underneath it.

He admitted tonight that he was gutted and about to throw a strop, but that in hindsight, it was genius Xmas Grin

Think my married daughter is expecting a tv for her bedroom, but I've wrapped up the remote control just to see her face when she see's the size of the gift lol
Oh and yes have got them both a tv but it's hidden in MY bedroom lol

We got DD a second hand computer for Christmas. The box was huge so children were duly told it was for DH. I wrapped up a box for DD and inside was a piece of paper saying 'you know the present you thought was Daddy's......'

It took a while for the penny to drop lol

Oooh love these, I'm saving them up til DD is old enough to play a trick on like that.

Years ago my brothers and I bought a tv for our Mum for her bedroom and wrapped the remote and left it under the tree for her

BLess her she thought we'd bought her one of those five in one remote control thingies Grin (what a shit present that would be)
