DC are screaming at each other. House is a tip. Surely just one or two wouldn't hurt...

it is for me. have everyone at mine tonight and have made a vow to myself not to start drinking before they arrive.

will be challenging enough to keep my cool with awkward family members without being half cut.

if you don't have this kind of challenge then no it's not too early to start drinking and have a large one for me Grin

amothersplaceisinthewrong · 24/12/2010 10:57

And one for me!

tingtangtastic · 24/12/2010 10:58

I was just wondering if it I could pop open the bubbly - have bought some of that lovely raspberry liquor that I am bursting to try out :o

JiltedJohnsJulie · 24/12/2010 11:06

ting, I'll be around in 5 Grin

i'm saving the champagne till everything is done bar heating and serving.

it has been tempting to stick a slug of bailey's in my neverending cups of coffee but i'm resisting.

i need my limited wits about me.

JiltedJohnsJulie · 24/12/2010 12:02

Well you do if your family are as awkward as you say.

Fortunately for me my only my Mum and Dad are coming today so that should be ok.

Have got PIL for lunch tomorrow so will be drinking spritzers and telling teetotal MIl that it is lemonade Grin

a teetotal mil?? good luck x

tulpe · 24/12/2010 12:18

LOL! Yes, too early IMO for Christmas Eve drinking, although like the others have been sorely tempted to have a little something whilst prepping/last minute cooking.

We are off to friends for a party this afternoon so I will remain off the booze until then, I think.

JiltedJohnsJulie · 24/12/2010 12:18

Not only is she teetotal, she can't see the point of other people drinking either, hence the lemonade lie.

OP posts:
SantaIsAnAnagramOfSatan · 24/12/2010 12:19

the alternative is to make her spritzers and tell her it's lemonade of course.

JiltedJohnsJulie · 24/12/2010 12:20

No that's a thought.....

PortlyBlackSantaUpAChimney · 24/12/2010 12:21

2" of whiskey / rum or brandy in a cup of coffee doesn't count Xmas Wink

JiltedJohnsJulie · 24/12/2010 12:23

Oh that's good to know Portly. Do I have to count it if it looks like lemonade?

To early for me. I've gor to go to work at 3.

JiltedJohnsJulie · 24/12/2010 12:25

Sorry, have just reread my previous post. Obviously it should have said now and not no. And I haven't even started on the booze yet.

God help the DC, it'll be beans on toast for lunch tomorrow at this rate.

Have just made some mince pies. They are possibly the worst looking mince pies ever. Think I might as well crack open a bottle Grin

sadiesadiemarriedlady · 24/12/2010 14:15

I've already had one glass of red wine (a friendly glass) and feel rather tipsy!, it's my birthday today though so I'm allowed Grin

SantaIsAnAnagramOfSatan · 24/12/2010 14:16

happy birthday sadie - you are definitely allowed Smile

JiltedJohnsJulie · 24/12/2010 14:20

Happy Birthday from me too.

ABudafulSightWereHappyTonight · 24/12/2010 14:28

Happy Birthday Sadie! Def allowed a drink!

JiltedJohnsJulie - I think I probably win the worse looking mince pies prize I am afraid. They had to be hacked out of the tin so are all broken!

Haven't had a drink yet. But this thread has reminded me to put the champagne in the fridge for tomorrow.

chrimblycompo · 24/12/2010 14:29

I had a gls of red wine with dinner

JiltedJohnsJulie · 24/12/2010 14:48

JiltedJohn - Pimms is a good one for MIL.

I once saw the mother of my best friend at university get hammered on Pimms. She thought it was lemonade with fruit in.

OhCobblers · 24/12/2010 15:16

bloody hell - NO - not too early.
i started at 12.10pm ...........

SantaIsAnAnagramOfSatan · 24/12/2010 15:27

it's getting harder.

keep thinking i could just have a little baileys in my coffee....

house is coming round to looking like civilised human beings live here rather than a slummy mummy and a 3 year old terrorist.

when i'm totally cleaned i think i'll indulge in one small drink before i start cooking.
