I've just found out that the relative who is coming to mine on Christmas day is bringing a foster child, a teenage girl. Never met her, neither had my relative at that point so have no idea what likes or dislikes are.

What do teenage girls like that won't cost the earth?

Yup - cheap make up/nail varnish always a winner for teenage girls. Vouchers could look a little impersonal, which of course is fair as you've never met her, but if she's a foster child I'm sure she'll appreciate the extra effort.

Hot water bottle in a lovely fluffy holder and a fleece blanket? Slipper socks good too.

Mug, hot choc sachets, bag of marshmallows and a big fat chocolate coin/candy canes.

'Nice' shampoo and conditioner and hairspray - eg John Frieda, in a box with tissue paper.

Paperchase notebook and pen.

Oh or Boots No 17 have an offer where if you spend six pounds (eg a lipgloss and a nail varnish) you get a boxed eyeshadow set free.

Or Topshop have a massive jewellery sale on at the mo.
