Cheese wrapped in bacon

I love cheese wrapped in bacon to have with Christmas dinner. If you've never had it, it's just the same as sausage wrapped in bacon (pigs in blankets) only with cheese instead of sausage! When I was living at my parents my mum always had these as part of her Christmas dinner. They were the shop bought variety, as in the 90s/early 00s they seemed to be stocked in most supermarkets in the run up to Christmas. The last few years I have been married and now we go to my husband's family for Christmas, and my now widowed mum goes to my brother's. Christmas dinner is not the same, and my SIL does not do cheese wrapped in bacon, which was my absolute favourite part of my mum's dinner! So I want to get some of them to have myself before it's even Christmas. But my local supermarket (Sainbury's, but small branch) doesn't stock them. Plus, I know my mum looked for some last year for the extended family meal we had just after Christmas but couldn't find any. Have they stopped doing them in supermarkets? Just wondered if anyone has seen any and in which shop? Thanks.

I've never heard of this, but it does sound yummy, I have a massive soft spot for melted cheese. Could you not just wrap some cheese in bacon yourself? Presumably it would be some kind of cheese that wouldn't turn into an oily mess when heated, like hard mozzerella or goats cheese?

I make this but I use halloumi cheese and usually serve it with a mango chutney dip! It's fab!

I remember serving some at a pre Christmas buffet party, some years ago. They were from M&S party food range, but I can't remember whether they were frozen or fresh. I couldn't say if they still do them.

M&S do them and they are gorgeous!!! I could eat a whole tray to myself. Blush
I think other places might do them but i don't think that they are as nice Grin. Enjoy!

Hmmmm, didn't think about M&S! I am in town on Thursday, so might have a look in. I have done a product search on the Asda website, and they have something called 'cheese and bacon rolls' but it's the one item without a picture, so can't tell if it's the right thing!

Yes, I blatantly could make my own, but what I loved about these was that you just shove them in the oven for however long it says, then get them out and eat. No mess, no fuss! (and no need for hard work by me, which is always a bonus!)

I'd like to know too - one of our local markets sell them, ready cooked to scoff whilst walking round Blush they are gorgeous and both DH and I felt positively sick afterwards as we ate so many.

I thought you would have to use some sort of special cheese to stop it going all liquidy and gooey!

No sign of them on the m&s web site ither tho i will say hard to use even pigs in blanket are called sausage and bacon rolls shouldnt they in in bread to be a rollSad .
hate to say but just looked on asda thats a bust aswell there pigs in a blanket are called sasage and bacon wraps Confused. Iceland were back to rolls with no bread or any kind of pastry Hmm .
still no luck this time at sainsburrys but at least there calling pigs in blanket pigs in a blanket if some 1 finds em let me knw if i do ill be back

I just phoned M&S & they're currently "not active" which apparently means they no longer do them :-( Has anyone found them anywhere else?
