Is this a naff idea

I need a present for my friend, I normally spend around £20.
We have a lot in common in RL but have very different tastes in things like books etc..Over the years I have completely done the gloves, hats, scarves, slippers etc.
She has recently got a new bathroom, and I know she loves her chill time in it.
I have searched my mind and thought that these might be an idea, either the set of 10 or perhaps a couple and then spend the rest on bathtime treats, or a scented candle or diffuser or something. Are they really naff?

Um...I think they're a bit naff. I can see why you are attracted to them, but they're one of those things that end up stuffed in a drawer.

They'll float annoyingly around in the water and bump into you.

I would not buy one tbh. I think the bath stuff or candles is much more useful.

StarExpat · 10/12/2010 23:55

I think they're cool. But I'm not the kind of person who stays still for long and can't sit in a bath doing nothing (wish I could!) so I'd love these because it would be a fun bath toy Blush and make itore interesting

whomovedmychocolate · 10/12/2010 23:57

They are awful. Someone bought me some. Sorry but they are terrible. Dressing gown?

StarExpat · 11/12/2010 00:00

Blush the photo makes them look fun.
Dressing gown a good idea!

fin42 · 11/12/2010 00:06

Thanks for your comments, i'll keep them in mind but perhaps look for something a bit more useful.

How about some really nice bath candles to put around in the room, in nice candle holders?

auntyfash · 11/12/2010 00:13

I'd LOVE some of those! Candles round the bath are too much faff, but these my friend look like FUN!

Joolyjoolyjoo · 11/12/2010 00:16

What about this?

I got one of these for my younger cousin, and there's only one thing to float into you in the bath!

mumeeee · 11/12/2010 00:28

I don't like them at all.

JarethTheGoblinKing · 11/12/2010 00:33

The bath light show is better (DS loves his Wink )

Note of caution though - one of the settings is similar to strobe (just in case your friend happens to have epilepsy)

Grumpla · 11/12/2010 00:35

I like them, you can buy them for me if you decide your friend is too grown up to appreciate them Xmas Grin

DaftApeth · 11/12/2010 11:41

How about a bath pillow and hair turban /towel thing?

Or a gift box from Lush?

SeriousWispaHabit · 11/12/2010 17:00

Or there is a floating wireless bath speaker for ipod in shape of rubber duck on iwantoneofthose.com

TheGoddessBlossom · 11/12/2010 17:09

bath light show! Fab!! Xmas Smile

BabyValentine · 11/12/2010 20:15

How about this? Same kind of thing, but slightly more functional

groak · 11/12/2010 20:18

Cath Kidston Jim Jams when she gets out of the bath? Or dressing gown? Must come just in budget? Or (I might sem a bit weird or slack, here..) but has your mate got new towels and stuff? Why not get a huuuge ginormous bath towel only for her to wrap up in after a bath, that matches the new colour scheme?> I'd love it Blush

QOD · 11/12/2010 20:35

I love thos over the bath thingies - I have one - but my bath is so close to the wall that I can't use it :(

However, it is still used daily.... as a ladder for the cat to climb into the bath

hormonesnowmore · 11/12/2010 20:51

They're pretty, but each light requires four AAA batteries.

Personally, I don't like gifts that cost me money.

Groak's suggestions are good.

CarGirl · 11/12/2010 20:54

I looked at those, they have very mixed performance reviews. How about really nice scented candles instead

taffetazatyousantaclaus · 11/12/2010 21:46

This is very nice.

ChippingIn · 11/12/2010 22:00

I woulf love them!! If Santa doesn't deliver I'm buying myself some! A friend on here said hers didn't last very long, but at that price I can live with that! Buy two & something else - a big bottle of bubble bath would win me over! or a bottle of bubbles & chocolate :)

fulltimeworkingmum · 11/12/2010 22:08

I'd go for Jo Malone candles instead. Smell nicer and last longer.

DaftApeth · 12/12/2010 07:29

Can you get Jo Malone candles for £20?

All the ones I've seen have been lots more. Am I looking in the wrong places? Grin

Catchthewind · 12/12/2010 07:36

Sorry but am wildly opposed to anything what floats in the bath

too many overtones

and memories of sieves

Grumpla · 12/12/2010 21:58

Eeeeewww!
