So, piles. All mixed up, or separate?

We've always had a big jumble of presents under the tree, (usually) labelled, and enjoyed taking turns to find our own/dole them out in rounds, but I've noticed the inlaws wrap everything, then stuff each person's presents in a big gift bag/ make separate piles under the tree.
What's that all about then? It all seems a bit joylessly neurotic military. Xmas Grin

I do differant wrapping paper for each child and jumble them all up (in an attractive artfully arranged way of course Xmas Wink)

I make sure each child has an equal number though and we only let them have Santa presents (differant paper again and in a seperate pile away from the main scum) first thing in the morning... the rest are opened at intervals through the day, everyone gets a gift and gets to open it at the same time

I always put everything under the tree so it looks the nicest then on Christmas Eve I sort into piles. However, this year due to 10 month old labrador puppy all presents are safely staying in spare room because I don't trust the bugger not to trash the lot!

My favourite part of the whole Christmas thing as a child was doling out the presents from under the tree into piles on different chairs for each person, after Christmas lunch.

I adored it! My DC do it now and they love it too.

We put the presents under the tree about a week before so there are observation opportunities, as well as totting up who has how many and of course some covert squeezing and the like. IMO it all adds to the anticipation.Xmas Grin

Piles here, they choose which sofa to leave their stocking on and all presents appear magically overnight Grin

I also do differant wrapping paper for each Pink for DD, red for DS and then differant for family.

Saying that though a big jumble under the tree sounds more fun :)

Separate piles, or it would get really confused with our number of children.

Jumblers under the tree, especially as the older they get the smaller the pile gets (but cost more!).

We put presents from friends and family under the tree and presents from father christmas in a pile or sack (depending on size). Nothing goes under the tree until x-mas eve night because dd2 will open them Grin.

Piles here as don't bother with tags for the dc's.
