FisherPrice Trio - any reviews - opinions

Am considering getting some of this for ds 4 years old, does anyone have some, what age do you think it's good for? Does it require parental help?
Any opinions welcome.

Nephew just 4 has this and thinks it's great but not sure how much he does independently. ds had a similar wooden version by Brio , called Builder which had a proper little tool box and either random pieces or kits for models which variously coupled or screwed together.
