Blimey.

Just done my online shopping order for food for Xmas week. Shopping for six of us (four adults, two children), enough to have nice meals and munchies from 23rd-27th/28th-ish, plus a little bit of drink / snacks for anyone who might pop in.

It's come to £250, not including wine (but including sherry, port and the turkey / ham).

Is this normal?

I don't remember spending this much last year.

amothersplaceisinthewrong · 21/12/2010 21:59

£350 on booze, £350 ish on food.

bunnymother · 21/12/2010 22:02

About £200 for 4 adults for Christmas Day, but there are also household items in there ie nappies etc. There will no doubt be leftovers, so really its not just for one day.

Spent £400 so far, don't drink much but lots of visitors.

DD age 24 paid half of the bill, I nearly fainted.

Blackletterday · 21/12/2010 23:00

Blimey those without visitors, what on earth are you buying? I'm seriously Confused, our christmas week bill is £130, 2 adults 3 children, that includes a goose.

I honestly don't even think I could make it up to £200 if I tried, how much food can you possibly eat?

Beamur · 21/12/2010 23:04

I feel a bit better having read this thread. I reckon we've spent about £200 and it seemed a vast amount - but we are having guests over Christmas (or thought we were, but now its looking doubtful) plus food for the next few days too. That includes meat and some wine too.

KeepCalmAndHaveAnotherMincePie · 21/12/2010 23:06

I managed to spend £150 this week, and as my mother would say 'there's not a meal in it!". Can't for the life of me think what I've bought (although it does include a bottle of prosecco or four). Oh, and we're out Christmas Day, boxing day and the 27th and don't have any visitors Xmas Confused

Although, with the shops being closed for a whole DAY I've completely restocked my cupboards...

QueeferSantaland · 21/12/2010 23:09

I've spent about that not including salmon, cheeses, ham, turducken, wine etc! (DH will order through work at cost price.)

Everyone will be eating leftovers 'till January weather they like it or not.
